A one-time name change for clans wouldn't do the job, the clans are a totally different thing than the players.
For the accounts, a one-time option was good enough because the ownership of the account does not change (hopefully), so the owner should know what name he desires and change it into that.
When it comes to clans, the ownership can change anytime and every new leader will desire a name change option, so for clans.. a one-time option is not enough and adding more wouldn't be good either. This can also cause confusions with the Bookmarking system.
I don't really understand how it would affect the bookmarking system since there is a unique clan tag for every clan.Quote:

I think you didn't read my comment about why a one-time option wouldn't be enough for clans. Yes, it would be fine for few months but then when the Leader gives his position, the new leadership might want a new name. The thing is, I want to avoid future useless comments and ideas being posted asking for new name changes for clans, so if it's to build a great idea, we should build it from the start.Quote:

Well... you are making an assumption that leaders would keep rotating for every clan. Even if this is true, the next owner would have to live with it that clan XXX with xxx clan tag has used up the only chance for a name change. This isn't a request to change clan names as and when you like it or whether ownership of the clan changes. Its just like how a player name works; you now have one shot at changing it. Screw it up and that's it. I'm asking for that one shot with a clan name change.Quote:

Implementing a namechange option from the start is one way to do it, but if you really worry about recognition a clan could have a 1 month adaptation-period if they decide to change their name. They name could be colored red in the bookmark pages of all players that bookmarked the clan, just so people know the name has been changed. When visiting the clan profile the previous name is also displayed so people will know what clan it used to be. If this period should be a month or less can be determined by SC, the ''1 month adaptation-period'' is just an example.
Well, preventing those topics from coming is more in people's favour, not only on the forums one. Why? Well, when somebody comes with suggestions on the forums, they obviously want them in-game. When there will come 100 people on the forums and ask for this, they will accuse SC for not thinking the idea through and only thinking of a solution for a limited amount of time.Quote:

I can give u some reasons y this wouldn't work, and why it won't happen:
1) it will confuse players who have not bookmarked clans.....
2) I doubt anyone will build a clan with a name they don't want, almost no one will take a clan to lvl 3 or higher if they don't like the name :facepalm:

You are completely right about doing whatever we can to prevent unnecessary threads from being posted. In fact if everyone would read the sticky threads we wouldn't have this problem. Adding a namechange option could cause more people to post threads with complaints, but it would prevent others from posting threads with requests for a namechange. If this request is rejected the influx of namechange requests will continue as it is right now. in the end we're stuck with unnecessary threads anyways, only thing we can do about it is coop with it and hope clashplayers will start to read before posting. To appreciate the need for a clan name change, we should first of all look into why a clan acquired its original name in the first place. My clan, for example, is a very old clan. Back in the day, there was no such a thing as clan location. So how would a Greek locate a clan of fellow Greeks? Well, as clans could only be searched by name, the name should reveal the nationality, hence the inordinately large number of clans called "Greece", "Hellas" etc. Needless to say, this also applied to other nationalities (see how many clans are called "Iran", for example).
Today, however, clan location is available in search, so this name convention is obsolete: we no longer need to name the clan after its location. So, we would appreciate the opportunity to change the name of our clan into something more interesting. And yes, we have considered the possibility to disband the clan and form a new one with a different name, but ... now we have clan levels, and our clan is level 6 about to go to level 7! We would not like to move back to level 1...
So, name changes do not necessarily happen because clan leadership wants them. Sometimes the original name is forced by necessity, but, as the game evolves, the reasons that dictate the name become obsolete. It would be nice if SC acknowledged this issue and allowed at least one name change.

This sounds like an okay idea. Then it would be usually available to Co-leader and leader. Any co-leader can change the clan name to something very offensive. Especially in "free co-leader" clans anyone can change the clan name.Quote:

Those of you that are against this idea are silly. Why shut down this idea just because it doesn't apply to you? As for having a hard time finding a clan: If you haven't bookmarked the clan, then it's probably not that important to you anyway. Look it up by tag. I'm sure we would know in advance of the coming update, so you can plan ahead by writing down the tags important to you.
A one time name change is a great idea. Those of us with high level clans can't just make a new clan. Not everyone will be okay with starting over and no perks. Recruiting is harder. Since we have tags, the name change just isn't that big of a deal.
Most of the negative comments have no point.
Don't have a clan you like bookmarked? Bookmark it!
Think it will be confusing finding a clan? Bookmark it! Write down clan tag!
Think this post has shown up too many times in the forums? It must be an idea many people want!
This is wayyy less confusing that a base name change, and way less of a big deal. Clan tags are searchable, bookmarkable. If you don't want a name change that's fine, but please give valid reasons.
