I am TH9 and I have no problem raiding for dark elixir.
rh 9 is easy to farm de and i didnt have any problems farming for de at th 10 tbh but there is a huge difference in gold/elixir i suggest farming in crystal 1-2 for de as th 9/10 make sure to get the bonus and upgrade the de drills asap ;)
TH9 isn't hard at all after you max gibarch. You can destroy max TH8's and take all their loot! Also can raid dead TH 8/9/10 mines so I would say it's the most easiest TH for farming.
TH8 farming (S2-G3) - 800-1.2mil gold/hr + 1-2k DE
TH9 farming (G2-C3) - 1.0-1.3mil gold/hr + 2-4k DE
TH10 farming (C1-M2) - 1.4-2.0mil gold/hr + 7-13k DE
All unboosted. TH10 is the best farming TH for me
Your friend may find farming DE easier at TH7 and TH8 because the DE requirements in those TH levels are small so upgrades seem easier to farm up.Quote:

and I haven't even factored dark spells into it, I don't really know them off the top of my head. But when you factor that at TH7 you can mostly just mass dragon in wars, for early to mid TH8 you can mass dragons/dragloon most of your wars so your DE needs aren't necessarily going to conflict with your DE upgrades.
At TH9 and TH10 if you war, you will have most likely have to war with DE heavy armies, supply maxed DE troops for the rest of the clan on top of saving up DE for heroes and lab if you want to be competitive in wars so all of that adds up.
So even if you can farm up/collect DE faster than TH7/8 the sheer amount of DE expenditure may make it seem like it's harder.
Change your league if you're having trouble finding dark e, and hit 'next' more often. Since the update that allowed th10's to find bases closer to their own town hall level, Ive been able to farm about 130-170k dark e per week, and I only play at nights. That update was a godsend to higher Th's, and if you're not finding loot, you're not doing it right. My queen has been asleep for 7 weeks in a row now :) I'll have her to 40 in no time at all.
Nope.. You just need to find the sweet spot in league..for me lower crystal 1.. Around 2330-2400 i farmed my walls to lvl9-11 in just 4 months..no boost..
At my time before introduce more DE drills to TH7 and TH8, here is what I encountered:
- TH9 gets more DE than TH8. Can max 2x drills to L6 also.
- TH10 is even more easier to get DE, once you settle down after the first few weeks. 3rd DE drill max to L6 as well.
Th9 is the easiest th to farm any resource.
From silver to gold-low crystal is amazing for gold and elixir and the higher you go the better for DE. When you have lvl 6 gibarch and max healers there NO th8-9 base that can hold their DE, regardless the design and the level of the defenses, the attack is just too powerful.
You still get lots of resources from maxed th8s but the juicy targets are obviously those th9s with 2500DE inside their DE storage.
