Question For Clan Leaders

We do a similar thing. We do small wars and I mix the th levels...only two or three beasts at a time and a bunch of lower levels. Makes for more fun wars as we win a lot :)

but this means of course that high ths have to wait for their war turn ...we have a rotation system. It doesn't suit everyone but we have been able to recruit a bunch of chill players who are cool with this policy.

Over time you'll be able to change your calns make up to be most suitable for wars.and helping noibs to grow is a great way of giving back too.

Let's face it....lots of champs in the clan with beast bases looks awesome but a green war log looks even more awesome imo:caticon:

I have the experience of building up 2 non-stop war clans from scratch: A level 6 clan which has a maximum of 50 clashers at its peak, & my current competitive clan which has around 25 active war participants. I personally undertake all my clan's recruitment. Indeed it is tough to recruit skillful TH9 & T10 clashers, more misses than hits. I meticulously undertake the recruitments, sifting through the information & work to recruit only clashers with the appropriate profile for my clan.

For the lower TH7&8 clashers, the requirements are lower & we tend to be more forgiving. We recruit these clashers to grow long term with the clan. For TH9 &10 clashers, we have more stringent requirements & higher expectations. War performance are drafted into the house rules.

We keep things organized. So far it's working ok for us. This 2nd clan is 4+ months old, & has a winning record of around 80%. While it is easier to have a green war log with majority TH7&8s, we believe in clashing at a reasonably ok to high level. We have been maintaining a 65% TH9s & TH10s (40% TH9s & 25% TH10s) in our war line up. This way, we are able to win consistently, have fun, & at the same time provide lower TH levels with sufficient learning & sharing experience.

It is a very rewarding experience to build successful winning clans, clashing with a great bunch of friends.

So in my experience in leading a clan for about 2 years now, it's really hard to find those 'big dogs' that end up staying with you in the long run. I personally won't recruit anyone below an almost maxxed th8 anymore just because we're lvl 5 now and only want maxxed troops for donations, but I think grabbing them young and letting them grow in your clan is the way to go. You want to find keepers and loyal members while they're still pretty new to the game so you build up some camaraderie and they won't leave you when things get rough.

And yes, th8's are still very young in my opinion. A maxxed 8 is about halfway through the game if you think about it, so they still have plenty of room to grow. So even if you're trying to get players at lower th's than that, the concept is the same - and i think it's the best way to go if you really want to build up a long-term family clan. good luck!

We would rather recruit from global then let in most th 8+ ...so we build our feeder clan. Most of our drama came from th 9s and 10s who wanted things their way and would wait until we were in war and throw a 2 y/o fit about 1 or more of our guidelines.

Main clan stays closed and only recruits from the feeder now. We have developed a good core group in the feeder now that knows how the main clan works and is working on some training. Main clan is drama free now and wars are nice.

This. 100% how we generally operate. Started as a bunch of TH7s two years ago, fortunate to still have 7 original mates. We've approached it as a marathon, not a sprint. From TH8s on we focus on maxing, after TH9 its the .5 route focusing on offense first. The motto has always been, "for the good of the clan". We try to help mates get better, have been fortunate to have many good ones join us on the journey. As sharky said, its been easier to mold and teach TH7s than bring in hired TH9 guns. The bad habits and ego are just not needed. Many times we take in the friends of established mates- this promotes longevity in the clan, everyone has buds so less of a reason to ever leave.

We don't put pressure on mates to have to war always- so this seems to be a positive. It can be a grind to have to farm, upgrade and oh by the way, be at war every other day. Opt in/out certainly helps. So to go back to OP- generally we develop in house or from TH7s. As mates move up in TH levels, shift to developing TH8s as well. Constant develop and reassess. Every now and then we will take a flier on a player from global. We don't have a recruitment page or anything of that sort.

I do want to say, I feel as a leader, it is my responsibility to secure a win for a close war. I save my attacks for the end of war. Ife we need a few extra stars, I will sacrifice loot for stars. A few co-leaders do this as well.

Personally I am against the .5 town hall. I have had players ask if its OK to upgrade their town hall because they are afraid to mess up the war matchmaking. Who am I to tell a player what they can and can't do. If they play the game to have fun and are active then that's all I need as a leader. If I hinder their progress or enforce harsh rules about how they are allowed to progress then I run the risk of them leaving. Play the game to have fun. If you want to rush, go ahead. It doesn't bother me as long as they can get 4-6 stars every war.

True we no longer recruit or allow new TH9 and 10 but we don't stop existing members from upgrading to any .5 town hall.

Level 7 clan at 2600 more to be level 8.

Also, we don't recruit, we kick out non attackers and open the gates for low TH noobs every war

As a Leader i'm quite upset that some of my members leaved our clan, they are actually part of us when we started it. They built their own and i realized that nothing last forever. Now i don't recruit members in global knowing "hoppers" are everywhere. We only have 37 members some of them are real friends and co workers. We help & cooperate during wars we manage to win 15 straight. I guess no one can beat us with good teamwork and effort.

I’m a TH10 and joined my current clan about a year ago. I was a TH10 then, but there was one or two TH8s, no 9’s and the rest 7s. The Clan warred very well and had about 30 wins (impressive at the time). I inherited leadership around December. Most of these guys have grown to TH9/high 8. We’re at 148 wins now. I very rarely accept new TH9s or 10s. We have two TH10s beside myself—one was picked up on global and one is a friend. They’re both assets who realize that a clan that wins at war is better than a stacked clan that wars constantly and loses 2 out of 3+. That mentality is pretty rare though among TH10s.

I do my best to recruit at TH7—someone with 100+ war stars and plans to max the base before moving to TH8. Though these days it’s starting to seem like a bunch of TH7s in war just means 3 stars for both sides and the war gets decided higher up. Recruiting at TH9 and 10 much more often than not kills our matchmaking. If a TH7 messes up, then there are loads of players above to clean. If a TH10 messes up (or can’t take his opponent), then it can mean a loss.

Someone had mentioned rotating top dogs. This was a huge issue when we had a glut of TH9s (and before you could opt out). I’ve since made a rule that if you’re TH9 or 10, and one of your heroes is upgrading then you must opt out of war. It accomplishes two things—1) reduces the 9/10 headcount for better matchmaking, 2) ensures we haven’t placed ourselves at a disadvantage by having multiple attackers with no AQ or no BK.
