Maybe just a coding thing. Like the game donates troops from the base you're at, so to avoid donating other people's troops, you simply can't donate anywhere but home. Seems highly unlikely to me that the game would code like that, but I can't really think of any other reason

Hi, I assume you mean in clan war? you obviously can donate to normal cc in chat.

The reason is to prevent clans with low level bases but with high level friends coming in and giving them an unfair advantage on defence during prep day.

At first I thought he meant visit someone's base and put troops in their CC, which would be ridiculous.

But what I really think OP is saying is that if, say, I'm visiting a clanmate's base and a donation request pops up in the sidebar, I'm not allowed to donate. The "donate" button is grayed out and a message pops up saying "Return home to donate troops!"

Ah, now it makes sense. I never understood this either. Maybe SC wants to be sure that you know you're donating your own troops rather than the troops of the clanmate that you're visiting?

This is the clearest way what he wants us to understand. Let's say someone from his clan request troops and he actually visit someone's base. When you click donate troops it is not possible he needs to return home. So i think he's not just asking why, he also wants to put this as an idea features for the game. I hope i'm not wrong :)

yes but i dont care if its changed, i posted this in general as a question but somebody thought i was making a suggestion
although i do want a reason, if they changed it that would be cool too
