Since the AI change it's generally recommended to take out the queen as part of a golem based kill squad.

The AI change was to nerf penta

still yet a penta is very effective

th9- pentalavaloonion (in war)
th8- specialized dragons (9 dragons and 4 loons in camps w/ 5 max loons in cc) and 3 lightning spells

Only ever tried penta with my 9 after the ai change and it wasn't pretty but gola works like a charm......even used it to 3 star a couple of somewhat premmie tens with mixed infernos.

Theres some strat the has been gaining popularity on th10s. I am not sure if it is possible for th9. If the queen's level is high enough, they use 3 to 4 healers, let the queen walk around and hope to take out 1 AD, if the base isnt cleverly constructed, she and BK can wreck 2, some include 1 golem and heal. That is the brute force approach. Then for the remaining 2 ADs, 3 lava hounds(1 from cc) and balloons can easily tke them out. Thats what they use to 3s a maxed out th9.
