Shall I upgrade to Townhall 10 yet?

I can't imagine this question never gets asked. If someone else has asked this with the similar stats as I, please link me to that forum thread.

I've got a level 20 king and queen, and I have 80 level 10 walls. The rest of the walls are level 9.
I know it technally is the best to upgrade everything you possibly could, but is it really getting a lot harder at TH10?

To start with the heroes. As a TH10 with two inferno's, I can't imagine anyone will dare to steal your dark elixer when it's well protected. That gives an advantage I believe. Also I will get a third DE drill, which will give me 2400 more DE ( when it's fully upgraded ) a day extra. After all, level 20 heroes can do quite a good job for now.

Secondly the walls. If I upgrade every wall to level 10, I am sure I'll be glad in the future I did it as TH9. 'Only' having to upgrade all walls from level 10 to 11 is easier and takes less time than having 170 walls that need to be upgraded to level 10 first. No doubt there are more advantages at maxing everything first, but does it really matter so much to do that? Well I'd like to hear what you think about it.

I always upgrade everything to maxed except walls. I do one below. For Town Hall 10, I am only going to Lv. 8 walls. Once you get your heroes higher, I'd suggest upgrading. Just know that getting all Lv. 10 walls as a TH 9, unless you gem, can take up to two years.

Thank you for the reply. I didn't mention the time taking it, I completely forgot about that. That of course is a big con in my opinion. At the moment I can upgrade around 1 wall a day, depending on my farming motivation.

As many can probably imagine, upgrading walls for months or a year doesn't motivate you the most. It isn't too bad for some time, but day after day it kinda gets boring. Asuming I'd upgrade one wall a day, it would still take me half a year.

LOL, 2 years!!!! What do you raid once or twice a day?? Many people have gotten full legos or lavas in a few months. Depends on how much you raid, but 2 years is barely even playing the game.

Anyways to the OP, just max your offense then move up. Do you war a lot?? If you do, do not build infernos or 3rd xbow right away, until you get your war troops/camps/sf etc. up to speed. Trust me on this one. Get your heroes up around 25 and then start adding infernos etc.. 2 level 1 infernos and 1 xbow will add about 10k war weight to you, and you will have TH9 troops at first.

Other than that, don't worry about cannons, ATs or mortars. Just get your ADs to level 7, wiz towers to 7, xbows to 3 and max your teslas of course.

If you don't care about war, then it really doesn't matter what you do, just build and max infernos asap and you are good lol.

I was almost same as you except I had all lavas. Just upgrade you will do great.

TL;DR version: You're a lot further than I was, and I'm doing just fine. You should do fine also, and it's so worth it to have inferno towers defending your loot.

I upgraded with a mix of lvl 7 (50%), 8 (30%) and 9 (20%) walls (but all maxed TH9 defenses/structures/traps; I think the only thing I went to TH10 with not maxed was a single barracks). Yes, even the traps were maxed. :) The only things I didn't have maxed were heroes (still both at lvl 10), and troops (I only focused on war and farm troops). I would upgrade the heroes more, but not having them in war is frustrating.

IMO, I think walls aren't super-critical. I have my central core at level 9, which is good enough to slow down troops that break in. With the earthquake spell, walls are even less useful. I think having really high defenses is more of a deterrent than the walls. Certainly when I watch war replays of people getting zero stars on me, it's not the walls that killed their troops, it's my defenses wrecking them and their troops not handling my layout. :/

Anyways, at about a month and a half in, I've got the two resource collectors nearly maxed, all four army camps upgraded/upgrading (one left with a couple of days to go), the new x-bow almost to level 3 (6 days left), the new cannon one level below TH9 max, the new archer tower two levels below TH9 max, and both inferno towers maxed or in the process of maxing (3 days left). Spell factory and lab were the first things I upgraded: lava hound is level 3, minion is level 6, had a few days left on max hog rider when TH10 finished, freeze spell is going to lv2 right now (golem is next to max).

FYI: I'm up in Master I, mostly farming the league bonus with lavaloonion or loonion to decent success (I try to bring 1 rage, 1 freeze, 2 haste and 1 poison; usually I can cook those in about the same time it takes to train up troops).

I agree 2 years is way too long :P. Yeah I've got everything at max except for the walls and heroes. So you suggest upping my heroes to 25 first? I wouldn't mind doing that.

About starting at TH10. What do you suggest upgrading first before the inferno's? Thanks for the reply!

Yes you are fine to move up.

Here's why:

i know now lots of people on here say you need to max your walls at th9, but it really doesn't have that much impact (as everyone brings earthquake and jump). Sure it might chase away a few lower level players, though when I have level 8 walls my maxed defences fried lower levels troops.

Heros need to be higher and the reason they need to be in my opinion is not only do they make a HUGE difference in war strength, but farming strength as well. As a th10 you'll be hitting th9's and other th10's. Infernos are strong, but multi infernos don't really slow the king and have little impact on the Queen. They just have too much health (or ranged attack power in the case of the queen). The majority of the bases I farm are th10's and with just gibarch and both heros I can 2 star a lot of bases easily. (Not maxed bases, but low and mid level bases).

Level 20 are about the bottom end that I'd recommend you go up with, but you are there, so go.

as long as the rest of your troops and defences are maxed, go for it.

This guy knows nothing of walls. I have 123 zaps been playing 18 months no gemming. Walls don't take long if you farm when you get a free moment. Keep your th out untrapped, break your shield anytime you log on and do a barch attack with heals if you need them. You are very close to ready to go to th10, but I'd have at minimum 25/25 heroes. I went with 19/21 heroes and all walls maxed and felt rushed when I was in war. You need beefy heroes to matter. gl
