I do wish we knew which events were coming up next.
Even tofu dogs and red hats might not be so common in the paper if we knew when the next visitor event was coming.
I used to save up my own strawberry cakes or feta pies, lemon cakes etc in anticipation of a visitor event. Juggling barn space for weeks at a time waiting for that Visitor Event that never seemed to happen.
As much as I love the visitor event I'm okay with it being only one day. I'd just like them more often and more predictable.
I hear you! :-) Last year I made shepherd pies....hundreds of them....waiting on a visitor event that wouldn't ever seem to happen. When it got to 700 or 800, which was over half my barn capacity and I couldn't even milk a cow, I'd sell off a hundred or so and just keep on making more....every Thursday night thinking surely this time we will get our event!!! It took months but we finally got one and the pies got gone lol. I stockpiled tofu dogs in the same manner earlier this year, but got discouraged waiting for the event week after week, month after month, and finally just gave them to the visitors at a loss, just to be rid of them, since they wouldn't sell in the RSS and my barn was groaning constantly lol. I'm now considering stockpiling another item for the next one, because its just so fun to do...but I think I will choose something that will actually sell (like your cake idea) just in case of having to sell off a bunch due to barn overload if it takes months again before the next one. Which, sadly, it may. Since its now just a 24 hour quickie event, it seems they would do it once a month or so. That would be awesome.
My barn is too full of ems, axes, saws and mining tools to stockpile for visitor events. I keep lems for a farm I follow who has not finished expanding yet, I keep saws, axes and mining tools to share with my sister and, even though my sister and I take turns expanding our barns, I always seem to have large quantities of bems as she doesn't farm as much as I do so I need to hang onto them until we get together for a transfer. I also keep large quantities of honey and sauces for a friend and my sister. Because of this, wheat is the best I can do for a visitor event. I am not complaining since I don't really need coins.
Visitor event caught me off guard as well. I was just about to expand both barn and silo and had 268 axes and 178 saws. but I still managed to sell a few berries. and I finally unloaded the saws and axes so I was able to empty my barn of other stuff.
All in all it wasn't as bad as I had dreaded when I first read the sign board message.
