level 7 dark troop!! The Tangler!!
http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...ps5c1b8ef5.jpgIn my previous Doom Knight thread I presented a troop that I would like to see as the final dark troop in Clash of Clans, however it will be awhile before we ever got to see that troop put in the game so I'd like to present additional ideas for troops that might not be as far off in the future. With that being said, here's a potential idea for a level 7 dark troop that I hope you all find interesting...
Deep within the swamps and forests across the realm.... an ancient and mysterious creature awakens from centuries of slumber.... summoned to the battlefield by the power of dark elixir! This plant-like combatant is known as the mighty Tangler! (Alternative names could be the Ent, Treant, Spriggan, or the Wrapper lol)
Stats and Characteristics:
*in game troop description: This aggressive plant beast wraps up enemy walls in vines, helping the invading army get into a base!!
*Unlocked at a Dark Barracks Level 7 (TH 10)
(Suggested cost is 4,000,000 elixir)
*I've edited the troop to no longer deal damage, so it's strictly a support troop
* it's "attack" is a splash "latch on" which then creates an effect
*attack speed is 2.0 seconds
Ability: the Tangler targets walls at melee range, and latches on to them with a kind of "vine wrap" attack which deals no damage but activates a jump effect. Any nearby ground troops will be drawn in to climb over the wall the same way as if an actual jump spell had been dropped (smaller 2.5 tile radius though).....
**within this small area once a tangler latches onto a wall the animation of the walls would then change to show green vines wrapped around them.
(Primary purpose of this troop is to have a tankier alternative to wall breakers as means of getting into a base)
*tanglers like wallbreakers are unaffected by jump, so one placed after the other will not move deeper into a base.
*to maximize their effectiveness in groups they should be dropped spread apart
*as a cc troop the tangler would act as a "stunning" troop, that doesn't deal damage but latches onto troops and heroes and freezes them for a short duration.
*Upgrade Cost
-Lvl 2- 60,000 dark
-Lvl 3- 70,000 dark
Lvl 4- 90,000 dark

Weaknesses....
*primary weakness of this troop is x2 damage from inferno towers, because since it is a plant the extreme heat burns it up even faster. Given that inferno towers are already very powerful, this is a HUGE counter to any kind of tangler attack,and will only make them effective if kept out of an inferno towers range
*the troop is not immune to spring traps
