End of attack Artificial intelligence. Need an update.

My thoughts are as follows. If an attacker is good enough to destroy every defensive building, the troops shoukd be smart enough to split up and target multiple buildings during the clean up phase. Too many times even if I deploy clean up troops on separate targets, they end up grouping together, targeting one building at a time and I run out of time to get the three star. I don't believe this would make the game to easy.I think an AI adjustment would be a reward for more advanced players. These are my thoughts, what are yours ?

If you actually read my post you'd understand that I already take care to divvy up clean up troops in an effort to keep them separated. I intentionally target buildings with spread out troops to keep them from bunching. The problem with the AI is that after the first target of each troop is eliminated they still bunch up even if it means avoiding the nearest most logical next target.

Sounds like a terrible idea. Troops could take a long way to get to other buildings instead of the quickest and closest route to the nearest. The AI would be unpredictable with troops going anywhere. Advanced players know how to spread troops to clean up. Pack a few goblins, minions for clean up...

How dense are you people? The problem is that even when I drop clean up troops individually or in small groups, they bunch up and avoid the nearest target. Whether it's archers, loons, wizzes, minions, or extra hogs. What happens is they destroy the targets I dropped them on, and avoid the nearest target for the sake of attacking next to identical troops. Have you not read that I split up my troops? Have you not read that I disperse them away from each other to keep them from bunching, after all defensive buildings are gone? The current AI is faltering, and causing too many troops to avoid the nearest target for the sake of bunching. I can't believe you people don't have anything better to do than put me down without attempting to actually understand what's going on.

We read it, and clearly think you aren't doing a good enough job of separating them or holding a few back to cleanup.

I'm having no problems with my cleanup troops.

I don't think you guys are being fair. I do tons of research, I'm definitely above average player though I'm certain you guys are more experienced and knowledgeable than me. This issue is something I bring up because it's a recent issue. In the past I would have shared your opinion of these thoughts, but troops have been quite buggy the last month and not behaving as they should. Is it hard to believe that if you guys don't have this problem, it could just be behaving incorrectly during my gameplay? I'm not stupid,I've played RTS's and RPGs and war games for the last 12 years.

So you call other people "dense" and think they intentionally put you down because they disagree with you? No, they both did have a point. Tweaking AI that way will reward more advanced players. If you know how to split your troops properly, you surely would know enough to keep 1-2 in the bag for clean ups after all defenses are gone. If you deploy your clean up properly from different places, they wouldn't bunch up, so I don't see the point why the AI should be tweaked to serve people who think they know how to split troops but actually don't. It only cause unpredictable behaviors unnecessarily.

Btw, if you can't take criticism or different opinions, better not post anything at all because people are going to disagree with you.

Here's a hypothetical situation. If i have 10 barbs for 10 buildings, it will take the same amount of time for 10 barbs to go through the 10 buildings one by one as 1 barb on each of the individual buildings. The issue is if walls get in the way or they aren't deployed in a reasonable way and clump and get taken out by a big bomb. it might be an issue for leftover troops in the core that clump together but i've never had much of a problem with side or backside cleanup troops. Just have to plan the backside and flanks as much as you plan the frontside.

Just post a few pictures of sequence where your clean up troops bunch up. Much easier to discuss/argue.

Ok guys, I can see nobody has any real advice or input. I expected difference in opinion, even for people to be shocked by my issue. The whole point of the post is that I never had this issue until recently. That's why I brought it up. since the last update my troops are legitimately behaving counter to the current alleged AI function. I save more than 1 or 2 cleanup troops. I consistently 3 star max th8, rushed th9s and have plenty of 2 stars on mid level th9 bases. But recently I see troops walk past their nearest target, start attacking in increasing bunched groups, And leave me a couple percent shy of 3 stars. I know how to split troops. Its a simple as tapping my screen in a different spot so as to cause clean up troops to initially target separate buildings

Avoid the nearest target? Are you sure? Since the ai update it is to my understanding that some troops very rarely do not go for the nearest target, but 99% of the time they do from my experience. Care to provide some evidence so people know what you mean? Chances are you are incorrect and that they did go for the nearest target.

Edit: from experience that issue has nothing to do with them grouping however. In reality that bug should be helping your troops split more often than they should.

Okay guy I'll try to bear with you hear (Wow, here*) since you are new here to the forums. Yes, splitting your clean up troops are easy but theres more than just tapping your screen and going with it. The A.I will target the next closest object with the least resistance (walls) so there for if you have a row of collectors on the left side of the base and a row of collectors on the right side of the base and that was it you'd obviously put a clean up troop on each side correct? If your clean up troops are not close to opposite ends of the map that may be what your problem is. Also, since you're obviously a TH8 you may be using hog attacks. If you start from the north side of the map with your attack your hogs will start cleaning up the south end of the base, therefore you only need to deploy troops on the north northeast and northwest.. Another one of your problems would be taking to long to kill cc troops or simply waiting too long to deploy your cleanup troops. If you possibly have a possible way to record an attack where you had the issue I'd more than willingly watch it and give you my critique.

Well, you could start by presenting your research in a clear, unambiguous way. That way the effect you talk about will be clearly shown in the presented evidence and will no longer be matter of opinion.

If you just state your own personal view you can almost 100% expect everyone to counter you (because they have their own, different, personal views).

It won't take the same amount of time, simply because the troops need to walk from one building to the other.

Say there's two buildings side by side. If you deploy 2 barbs in the same building they will walk to the first building, destroy it, walk to the second one and then destroy that one.

If one barb is deployed for each building they will each walk to it's respective building and each barb will destroy it's building. No walking in between, so less time wastage.

Of course, each single barb will take twice as long to kill the respective building than on the two barb case, but it happens simultaneously. On the two barb case each building is destroyed in sequence. So equivalent amounts of time.

The time spend walking is what makes the difference. Imagine there's a building on each corner of map. Deploying one barb on each building is obviously faster than deploying all on a single building. The same still applies to a smaller degree when buildings are close.

No, because a group of 10 barbs all move together from one building to the next after each building destroyed. so 10 movement segments for each barb (1 to reach the first building, then 9 between buildings)

While 10 barbs on separate buildings will all have just one movement segment each.

The actual time spent hitting buildings will be the same, it is the time traveling between them which is affected.

It's simple math bro. X number of troops divided by Y number of buildings = Z troops per building. As Y decreases, if X decreases at a slower rate, Z will increase. In other words, as your troops destroy buildings, they will inevitably converge on the remaining.

No becuase if u split the barbs they don't spend time walking to each building.

Yes I do agree that troops seem to bunch up more than usual due to new wall aversion (ranged troops). I have only rrslly noticed a difference while gibarch ing though. My war attacks are generally the same.
