Actually no, and the OP is correct. When you loot someone, every gold/lix/de you take is from someone else, so it is a zero sum game and does not add to the economy. In fact, after you factor in next cost and army cost, it actually reduces wealth from the economy. What the op is talking about is when you snipe th, the league bonus is loot generation from SC, thus it ADDS to the economy (for all). You are only talking about lining your own pockets: totally different concepts. Think big picture.
As for th trappers, I think they're either immature trolls, people looking for D wins to push up, unbreakable achievements, or the uneducated who things this will somehow weaken your attack on the rest of their base. Really they're just treading on a social contract between farmers with farming base, and th snipers.
The only thing that th snipers do is killing the loot by providing free shields. Loot would be great if all the th9 farming bases with 400K each available would be abpvailable for raiding. Less bases to attack always means that loot will suck ipeven if there are more total ressources in the game. By traping your th and sending as much of them back into the lower leagues the more loot will improve. Yes defending you will loose more on defense but if you can get all the rrssources back with farming I am glad. Hondpestly as a th10 finoshing the last defenses I would be glad if I had more serious attacks on my base. The last time when someone got my de is half a year ago while I was still upgrading my infernos.
I trap my TH. Why? Because no TH8 or less should be able to cheese their way into champion league and survive solely on sniping. I'm not going to go overboard with the traps (not going to leave the rest of my base exposed), but I'm going to make it to where they require a significant investment to actually take it.
As far as TH9+ people go, they can easily take my TH with 2-4 giants and a handful of barchers for a very good net profit.
Lastly, and the most important reason: free cups from botters.
The answer that makes sense to me is that they do it for fun and the replays. The twist in irony is, outside of war, my favorite raids are smashing those cheeky bases
After a farming session the other day I had dropped a bunch of trophies and wanted to climb back into a higher league quickly, so I went TH sniping. Since I rarely do this, I was actually surprised how many people trap their TH! Maybe I was just having bad luck but about half of the ones I went for had Teslas pop up around them.
It ♥♥♥♥♥♥ me off, of course, but I can understand it was probably fun for the defender to watch the replay. In the end all it really makes me want to do though is train up a super strong army and go TH snipe, looking for trappers and wreck them :smirk:
Who told you all snipers are "friendly?"
I have one of my DE drills outside my walls with my current layout, and almost every time I get sniped, they also go for my drill (the smart ones only when it's full, the dumb ones even when it's empty).
Snipers attack your town hall for their own selfish reasons, not to provide you with a service out of the goodness of their heart :smirk:
I'll stop trapping my th when people stop making the same new threads everyday.
100% agree with OP.
