Definitely Hogs. At lvl 3, that's when they don't die against a single Giant Bomb when against other Th8s. That's when you can finally 3 star them. ;)

imo lv 4 are when u start to use hogs effectively
I'm a TH8 and my maxed King is awesome, I suggest you upgrade the BK.
Hogs. Your BK is not really worth much until he get much much higher. Level 4 hogs are the best attack at TH8. At TH8, the BK is not really needed. I wasn't happy with my BK until he hit 30.
Frankly, you won't be using Hog Riders until they are ATLEAST level 4. So, I'd start doing the hogs ASAP.
As I was not enthusiastic about war at TH8, I upgraded my BK first and it was a great decision. Getting him to level 10 was easy and well worth it.
Hogs are useful at L3. Do that.
Get the king, once its lvl 10 it'll be much more useful :)
If you have a level 10 BK, you still can't hog and level 4 hogs are the key to the vast majority of three stars on upper 8 3 stars.. And you can hog just fine with level 4 hogs and a level 5 king.
