A question primarily to traders...
i have had a a few trades hijacked recently and am wondering whether just to cull my followers. I used to go visit them and buy stuff, help out, etc but increasingly they just raid your shop. My main concern is that many of them buy my wheat and it might not sell as fast but really, I have never had too much issues with selling 10/1
I don't trade but, personally speaking, I don't tolerate followers. They do NOTHING for me and just prevent me from ensuring that my goods go to the party that I intended them for. I follow a few 'beginner' farmers and try to transfer coins to them (10k a day) but have found that followers learn the routine (I use farm name changes) and come in and buy my goods for 1 coin when they MUST KNOW it is not intended for them. If farmers help me I leave them alone. They have done me a service so why would I want to try to harm them? Just my opinion.Quote:

You do not know what they know. Whenever i see something i need i buy it. I usually have no idea what the price was. This game has taught me to be quick. So quick i sometimes buy what i do not need because the fingers are faster than the brain. By all means, delete them. Just do not imagine you know what they were or were not thinkingQuote:

Thanks for the feedback. I have almost 200 followers and, apart from buying my wheat, they really don't do much for me. I may consider keeping the ones that sell expansion materials but at the moment there are just too many to even keep an eye on.

Overall, I like my followers :-) Perhaps I've just been blessed with good ones, but I had over 100 until I recently went thru and culled the ones who had gone inactive. A number of them buy my stuff (regular RSS sales) which is fine, and help my boats and plants. I've had someone swoop in and take something that I was giving a neighbor (wheat first, and last stall, so it was obvious) but it wasn't a follower...had to be someone from boat board or whatever. I love helping my followers back, too, and I often go thru them looking for help flags. I wish they would show up in the help needed tab, that would make it much easier!

Most of my followers buy my wheat and resell at a higher price so they are very welcome. I also have some followers who are extremely helpful, tapping me on the shoulder by buying one or two crates of wheat to let me know they need help and also have goodies in their shops for me and are quick to fill boat crates when flagged. I try to cultivate good relationships with my followers by checking on them often and helping when I can. They hang around so I must be doing something right.
I am a single player hood so my followers are essential to my play style.

You are being disingenuous. I was writing about a specific incident (which I thought was patently evident) but you chose to answer in generalizations. The circumstances were such that I knew the follower was aware of what s/he was doing and that is not open to argument.Quote:

In MY opinion and MY experience followers generally, and certainly at first, are self-serving. I am not disputing that there are some wonderful exceptions but in the scheme of things they are probably about as rare as horse apples in Venice. They follow farms for their benefit, not the farmers'.
In MY experience, followers are greedier by far than my most greedy Townie and I at least get XP from the Townies. Everything in my stall is for my three hood mates and my one friend (daughter) and they can clean it out completely, as often as I fill it, and that gives me great pleasure. I do recognize that followers can serve a real purpose for those who choose to farm alone and don't trade - but then such farmers shouldn't care who buys their produce anyway.
In MY experience followers have been very disruptive to my style of playing and the reality that they can intercept goods not intended for them makes them persona non grata on MY farm.
To return to the OP: Any that bother you get rid of. They do nothing for you that your hood mates and friends can't do far more easily and quickly. Just the lack of meaningful communications is a huge drawback and probably the cause of most misunderstandings.

I have followers who seem to stop playing after they follow me. I only have a few so it's easy to see who is not playing at all. I delete them and then get more who do the same. I play every day and have several sales a day but have rarely had a follower who buys from my stall. I'd love to have followers who interacted with me.
I am not being disingenuous. I understood from your original post that you were assuming your followers knew the items in your stall was meant for someone else. You did not indicate you had direct knowlegde. I was offering another interpretation of thst persons actions based on my understanding of what you wrote. You may have thought your description was patently evident and are now deciding that i chose to be disingenious. Well, it was not patently evident to me. If you helped their farm, you could be on their last helpers tab. You'll fall off that list two weeks from the time you helped.Quote:

It used to be that iOS users could revisit any farm they liked via their FB activity log. The "liked" farm did not have to be connected to FB in order for this to work. Recent FB updates have cut this means of access for a lot of users, but not for everyone. Some players report they're still able to access farms this way. If this is how your culled follower is finding you, then that's bad news, because this connection may not ever expire.
I think we're all on the boat leaderboard. You might be #453,035 on the list, but you're there. Same with being on someone's "recent contributor" list for certain global events - like the current fishing event. But I think it's extremely unlikely that the same person who used to follow you would be finding you these ways.

I have GC friends who follow me too. I have had people I follow, follow me back. You can't get to anyone's farm from searching nh. You can from the recent contributors to the fishing event as well as top contributors. If it is none of these, I have no clue.
Now, I decided to follow a person from a DD ad. They did some trees or something. I bought from their RSS once or twice and they deleted me. I found them again in my recent helpers and refollowed them. I bought a few things from their shop again and was deleted again and that was it. On the other hand, I found the gal who is leader of the nh I joined because she appeared regularly in the DD back before nh. I added her to my GC. When we got nh, she invited me and I joined. Once in a while she will advertise in the DD and will come up in mine. There is a lot of randomness in the DD ads (no, we all don't get the same ads) but also a grouping which is why we "found" each other two years ago and why I still have her in my DD.
BTW, I culled over half my followers last night for the first time. Most or all were farms leveled under 25-30.
