Th8.1?

short n sweet, im done with elixir upgrades on my mini th8 and sitting on 6 mil gets me smashed by young th9s needing purp. any thoughts to upgrading the th to th9 just to dump extra elixir into walls? I would build literally no th9 buildings and upgrade nothing to th9 level, other than turning the skulls im working on into legos.

I know the loot penalty is something to think about, but I already raid mostly th8s and young th9s with this acct. another thought is how the lego walls will affect my war weight, if it starts pulling in anything over max th8s im going to be in trouble.... worth it?

Your base will never pull in anything over a max TH8 because your base alone doesn't pull in any opponent. You have to think of it collectively. Getting lego walls isn't going to make war opponents noticeably better when spread among all the base weights of a war.

well that makes the thought process easier, if it wont negatively affect war match ups that's one issue down.

Have to disagree on that. Walls weigh a lot lately. Although what he's pretty much talking about is 8.5 and you get better match ups like this; he'll likely be unprepared for th9 life assuming his base isn't max

It will, walls weigh more now, how much though, probably negligible if you aren't adding additional defenses. In the long run I think you are better off upgrading your war troops than walls with your elixir. This will impact your war weight also but again, the effect will be negligible with no defensive upgrades being done.

this was also an option I considered, only upgrading the lab, and then upgrading troops as a lix dump. however, since the point was to not have a lot of elixir, sitting on elixir for 14 days while troops upgrade will still have me... sitting on elixir... and getting wrecked by th9s who now do not have the loot penalty vs me...

seems to be the big issue is still how being a th8 with lego walls and a dark scary town hall will weight me in war. im kind of thinking I wont be weighted higher than a max th8, since my other buildings are not yet max th8 level which could offset the wall weight increase. also not all my walls are skulls, which means they wont all be legos either, so the cumulative weight may not be higher?

Dump your elixir into troops/camps/spell factory and DE into queen

well sure, but I fear once I start making too many th9 upgrades I become just a rushed th9...

I don't think you're realizing how much elixir you need at the beginning of TH9: 9 million for your camps, 4.1 million for lab/spell factory (right out of the gate necessity), 3.5 million for the dark spell factory, 2.75 million each for each dark barracks to level 5 (and then again for level 6), and 6 million elixir for loons.. If you're STILL doing skulls when you're finished farming all that elixir even if you do it in a month I"ll be shocked, you only need 125 million to finish your skulls and it's very difficult to steal.

oh I realize it lol, been there done that. but im not just doing skulls, im not that close to maxing my th8, I focused on all my elixir upgrades first and only use 3 builders, still have a lot of defenses to do. I'm not to the point of being ready to go to th9, I just don't want to sit on elixir whilst I finish my th8.
