No losing shield until you actually attack

One thing that I think should be changed is the fact that searching for a match causes you to lose a shield. I understand that attacking causes you to lose your shield but I think it would be better if you didn't lose your shield until you actually place troops down and attack. We have all spent long amounts of time searching for a match worth the troop cost to attack. Sometimes you get bored of searching for a match and decide to try again later. But you have already lost your shield! Same thing with revenge attacks. We have no idea of how much loot we will actually get when attacking, we can guess by scouting out the defender but we never really know till we click revenge. If it's lower then we thought we can back out, but again we have lost out shield. Even if we are searching for a match and then get interrupted with a phone call and have to close the app, we lose out on the shield cause we started searching. By the time the phone call ends we could have lost another 200k of our resources which is just not right. I think this would be an easily implemented change and helpful too.

No. You don't get to search for bases and keep your shield if you don't find anything you want to attack.

Think how this will affect attacking in higher levels... Masters, Champs, could be manipulated easily.

Give me an example. People will still attack and lose a shield. It's not like this feature will do anything except help those who have something come up when trying to find a match. People still aren't able to be attacked when they are online so searching with a shield still in effect doesn't really change anything unless you decide not to attack at that moment.

It makes it far easier to attack for loot and trophies with less penalty. No.

I didn't attack, why my shield was broken?
Especially for high trophy players who may search for a long time without finding anything or maybe just a one trophy offer which he take and then get destroyed for -10 or more.

But, for farmers:
Let's search, If I don't find anything, I have nothing to lose.
If he broke his shield, he will get resources
but, if he doesn't, the loot is still safe.

Maybe they should make this idea just for the titan and legend league players

What you're describing is a problem with the trophy system. It doesn't get solved byletting people keep their shields...in fact that makes the problem worse.

How does it make it worse? You keep saying it does but you never give any reasons why. This makes perfect sense. If you attack someone you lose a shield. If you don't attack you don't lose a shield. Simple as that. You can scout out with a shield but once you place a troop down you lose it. It will benefit everyone. The worst possible thing that could come out of this is that matchmaking could take a little longer possibly. But that's not for sure. There really is no con to this idea. It benefits everyone and doesn't hurt anyone.

You've clearly stated that there are no cons in this idea, however, the reality is that every idea has their pros & cons.

Aren't Titan / Legend players waiting long enough to just find a single one cup offer?

Currently a person would search for a match and lose their shield immediately. But they still can't be attacked until they get off the game which they won't do until they attack someone. The proposed idea would allow people to keep their shield until they actually do an attack. So in the end both are losing their shield and becoming attackable. Most people will lose their shield no matter what cause they will attack someone. The whole no losing your shield when searching helps those who get interrupted or decided to just find one later. It wouldn't increase the wait time that much, if at all, considering people are still going to attack all the time and lose their Shield anyway. But it doesn't make sense that you should lose it prior to actually attacking.

The change would help players who don't have the freedom to sit nexting indefinitely. A kid may need help with homework. The cleaning up might have to be done. You've Nextel for a few minutes, but it may take another five to find a decent target. So you have to abandon the game having not attacked having broken the shield.

The he people who don't care are the ones who can keep their device logged on indefinitely, or who don't have real-world responsibilities. Silver and Gold probably don't care, but crystal and above, a logged off account is attacked nearly immediately.

The negative is that it allows cherry-picking targets. The pace of attacking would slow as people are no longer on the hook to attack once they start to search for a target. Everyone should have to settle for somewhat less than optimal targets now and then, not just the people grinding hard for loot.

That is absolutely no different to how it already is. Lots of people report nexting for like half an hour before finding their unusually juicy target. Lots of people complain about running out of gold nexting.

This idea might mean that these patient people might do their half hour in multiple sessions, but it will be no different.

I would never spend more than a few minutes nexting. Nexting endlessly is not at all fun. But sometimes I'd like to see if I can have a quick game, but not having to commit to attacking if I don't like the first few offered.

People pay gold to next. If you're paying gold then you should be able to pick your target as you see fit. And people already cherry pick their targets right now. I still don't see how this would affect pace of play. People are always going to attack and lose their shield. But those people who get interrupted in the middle or decide they don't want to next forever now don't get punished for their personal lives taking over. They would get to keep their shield if they don't place any troops. It's not like it will take longer to find a target. People will still be able to next until they find a target they like. And since it's completely random that could be on the first try or the 100th depending on how picky they are. Pace of play isn't decided by this possible addition. It's decided by the player picking a match. I still haven't seen an actual con to this idea yet.

I like this idea. I hate when I'm searching and can't find bases and stare at clouds for ten minutes.

The point being that people will no longer feel compelled to keep nexting to find a target and will put the game down without having attacked and come back to it later. Everyone that seemed to disagree with my post is actually supporting that point.

Well no. The point of the suggested update is to do exactly that. I don't see why you think it's a bad thing. People will have a shield and either attack and lose it or wait it out. If someone wants to attack they will attack. If someone doesn't they wont. Some people have a 15 minute break from work and try to attack but can't find a target in that time. So they just decide to come back later. And with this new update they would be able to with their shield intact. I don't understand why you think this is a bad thing. I don't understand why anyone thinks this is a bad thing. No one can give solid reasons why it's bad. Only opinions that really don't change anything. If you don't like the idea it's cool, some people wont, but I'd you're going to say that it's going to hurt the game more then help it then provide solid evidence and reasons.

You don't have to eat the cake if you have it. It's an option. You could eat it now or save it for later because it will still be safely untouched in your fridge or wherever you put it.

Yes true. No one gains shields in this suggestion. They just get to keep it until they attack or it runs out. And theoretically if everyone waited their shield out, which you have to assume people do because you can't assume they all attack and lose it, then nothing would change. Like I said before, people want to attack and will attack. They just shouldn't be forced to do it in a time period. If they want to next for 2 hours then take a break and next again for 2 more hours we should let them. They already have to pay gold to do it. Why should they have to lose the shield as well. The game says if you attack you will lose the shield. But we don't have to actually place troops and we still lose the shield which doesn't seem right. Not everyone in the game will have a shield. People always find matches but they just don't like them. So it is no guarantee that loot or matchmaking will change. To be honest loot could only change in a positive way. More people keeping shields means more built up resources by collectors which means more loot in raids. So you're point doesn't really work here.

I have mixed thoughts about this. It would be nice, buuuut... It could be too OP for farmers.
