Why are trophies based on other trophy levels??
I get a chance to attack a th9 for 1 trophy because he decides he likes the lower levels for farming??
If I take on a th9, it should be a minimum of 10-15 trophies.

System is very simple used in many different games. It is universally called elo system. It has nothing to do with anything but the difference between your elo (cups) and your opponents cups. If your enemy is higher in cups than you are you will get more elo if lower then you will get less. If game worked like you suggested everyone would push as th7s which wouldnt make sense.
If I beat a th9 that has more and better defenses than my base, I should be awarded more trophies.
He's being rewarded for staying at a lower trophy level.
I'm being penalized for having more trophies.
I'm a th8 at 2866 trophies.
I am unable to find another th8 worth nearly anything.
A th9 worth 20+trophies would be hard for me to 3 star due to the differences in our levels.
I get th9 offers all day for 2 and 3 trophies.
But why would I waste troops and resources for 3 trophies on a th9??
I just think there's a better way.
I know it's not impossible, just frustrating to hit next for over an hour trying to find a base that has something I'm able to move up with.
I pushing for champions and I'll find a decent base but I'll get sniped and lose what I had just won if not more.
To me it seems that the matchmaking algorithm purposely gives you either TH9/10 matches with trophies or TH8 matches without any trophies. There are TH8s all over the trophy ranges now, but you won't be matched against them unless they have far less trophies. Rarely there's the rare time you get matched to a TH8 which actually offers significant trophies, but it's extremely rare.
SC probably does that to hold back low TH from climbing too far up.
