Then at TH9, DO NOT BUILD ALL YOUR NEW DEFENSES. If you want, you can keep a builder on that new air defense (and maybe tesla), but focus all your gold on your walls. Use your elixir and DE to get ahead on the lab, and get that fourth spell and 220 spaces.
By the time you finish your walls, you'll be a much stronger offensive 9, and can proceed to pour gold into your defenses again. This is without a doubt the best way to prioritize builder days, lab days, elixir, and dark elixir. The con is that some people think they need to build their stupid xbows or archer tower or wizard tower before their walls.

I did ~20 skulls before I went to th9(i'm still an early th9) and I have ~90 legos and the rest skulls now, if you plan it alright and make sure you do them it can be more beneficial to do them at th9 where you can upgrade some to legos with the elixir you'll farm as well

While I have no issues raiding at TH9, loot seemed far more abundant at TH8, especially until barch was upgraded at TH9. Take advantage of the time, work on attacking with expensive troops, make your clan happy donating LVL5 wizards when you are not raiding, especially if your clan has reached LVL5.
I'm personally maxing my walls for TH8, I just don't want to have to worry about them later on in TH9, plus you always hear TH9's complaining about the lava & hero grind so I'd like to at least have skulls before I even consider going to TH9.
