Hogs at TH8 (maxing or max) strategies please! (For War)
Hi Guys,
So i've heard people and their love for hogs at TH8:heart: Mine will be upgraded very soon to LVL4 so i can finally try some TH8 hog attacks...
I live by: "2 stars don't win wars, 3 stars does.." I would like to know what HOG COMBINATIONS are out there that I can use for a maxing/maxed th8 bases for war, and How i can tell if the base is "Hog-able" or not... ps..i nvr really used hogs at th7
Thank You for your suggestions!

thorough instructions thank you!
Hey Paul,
thank you for the very very thorough guide to your thoughts on hog raids basically followed everything up until the chinese wall and the #1 and #2 :(
btw, the king in the ctr of the base always hunts my hogs down and kill them :'( what do i do? maybe wrong base?
also do you think it has something to do with my weak lvl 3 hogs? also the suspicious DGB spots.. before my hog even gets there it dies x____x
thank you very much for your response :D

It depends on the base - if there is a tough and well positioned (buried between defences) DGB spot then GOHO is a good option, getting the golems in backed by Wiz and the BK to pre-trigger the DGB, then hog the remainder of the base. Number of golems etc. is dictated by how hard it is to reach the dgb.
As a TH8 for a normal 'hog' attack (no dangerous DGB spots) I would go with a standard composition of:
7 wizards
1 archer for a cc anchor
1 giant for the cc lure
32 Hogs
Barbs and maybe couple archers to fill remaining spaces
CC - 2 witches and a barb.
Use the giant to lure the cc - and a couple hogs if the cc is a tough lure - if there's an exposed DGB spot I will target this to test and pretrigger too.
drop the archer to anchor and pull the cc troops (if there is not safe spot when scouting take barbs instead and drop them 1 by 1 to pull the cc out).
drop the barbs, then the cc BEHIND them, then a couple of wiz to flank the witches, plus another behind.
Once the cc is under control I drop the hogs in one of 3 ways, depending on the base layout:
1. Spread bases - surgical deployment 3-4 hogs onto each defence
2. 2/3 finger drop onto 2/3 defences - most base designs.
3. Asian wall - If there is a line of 5 defences I can hit all at once.
I don't use a single finger drop as its a waste of the DPS from the hogs - once you get over 7-8 hogs on one defe (I think) the DPS of more hogs is wasted.
Heals are then done in the 'triangle' layout - 2 on the second layer of defences (the hogs won't need them immediately) spread across the side the hogs are attacking, then the third on the back end - I try and plan these to cover possible GB spots and WT's.
The remaining few wiz I drop around the base as the area becomes 'safe' to speed up clean up.
