Join up a competitive war clan and know that I cant wait to ug although im sticking to 8.5

I stopped barching once my defences were maxed and pushed to masters and champs and stayed there using loonions initially for heroes, then switched to hogs/goho for walls once the heroes were done.
What league are you in? Staying in silver, gold and crystal is really boring. Move on up to masters or champs and attack better bases. You won't be bored I guarantee you. Those lower leagues are for 'kids'.

Changing your army comp & league always makes the game a little more interesting while you are grinding walls & heroes.
When my th9 was mostly doing walls I'd barch from gold2 up to about c1 then drop back down again just for a change in scenery......but then I find wall farming relaxing, hero farming that's a whole other story.....that I just had to grind.
I would say challenge. If you have clan members in similar situations.. Do a race.. We have 5-6 members doing wall heroes. We evaluate how much done each day.. Good way to not get bored
I've been working on walls and heroes since January. I keep it fun by being in an (almost) always war clan and experimenting with different strategies from time to time. War is the best part of the game to me anyway, so I just look at farming/raiding as what I have to do to improve my offense and defense in war.

When I got to th9 . I kept one builder just for upgrading walls . One builder for heroes. Three builders on buildings. I finished all lava walls and my buildings weren't maxed. I was th8 maxed when I got to th9 btw. And two months later. I got my heroes maxed.

I've been th9 for just under 3 months been doing heroes both at the same time have made it to champs while my heores were awake now my challenge is to stay in champs for the week without heroes it's tough without heroes up there but it's a good challenge and keeps it interesting and then it can get frustrating at times as well cause can't really defend against th10's even with all my defenses maxed and my lavas. I have been using 4lava hounds 5drags and either valks or pekka in cc works pretty well without heroes have tried other comps but that works out the best for the 50% and mostly 2 stars against maxed th9's.
While majority says it was boring, it wasn't for me. Currently only farming for heroes, valks, dark spells and warring skills. Guess maybe it was because i am a goal orientation person lol
Some people, like myself, just like do the grinding. I love doing walls and checking my wall count at the end of the day as mind-numbly boring as it is to some. Clash is a game- if you don't like grinding don't do it. Do what you feel is the most fun and never feel like you 'have' to do something such as maxing. Move on to TH10 if it's in your best interests.
Check other players' achievements to encourage yourself.
From time to time, try using strange and fun army compositions.
Participate in wars.
Take one day off
I am working on lava walls. So hard to farm but I have a beautiful base designed by myself. It is definitely motivating to me

Update: I tried to spice things up by experimenting with my troop composition. For my first attempt, I decided to give the "Immortal Heroes" a shot (8 Healers & both Heroes). I couldn't find anything to revenge, so I went to live search. The first thing I found was an abandoned rushed TH10 base.
The collectors placed all around the outside (mostly) of the base. With my usual composition I could've sent out distraction Giants and Barbs while my Goblins collected everything. Instead I had to watch my King die quickly, but my Queen did well with the Healers. Sadly there wasn't enough time.
I got 297k gold, 182k elixir, and 2k DE. But I was sad that 251k gold and 130k elixir was left on the table.
So I've learned my lesson. Screw trying to experiment. I have loot to pillage and I want it all!!!
Focus on developing experience in diffrent kinds of attacks for yourself.
Share knowledge and experience with clanmembers.
Start farming with giant, barb, bow, gobs, jump and rage for dark elixir. You can spend more on your army.
Have fun attacking, mix it up a little by experimenting.
Main thing is to shift focus, try new tactics and let your experience help clanmembers.
That's what I'm doing, max th10. Same thing, walls and heroes.
