What I just realized about Clash of Clans
So I did some thinking today about how Clash of Clans works, in game. I was thinking about the relationships between the different aspects of it, and there were a lot of things I never realized before. I decided to share my thinking below:
The purple-pink elixir in the game (also known as the elixir of life) has been something mentioned in different mythologies and throughout history. The Chinese, Indians, and Egyptians all believed in it. Europeans in the medieval times went looking for it. But this elixir of life is said to grant immortality to whoever drinks it, and can create life. That's how the elixir is used to "make troops". Also, this elixir of life is said to turn base metals into gold, so the reason that there is so much gold underground and our mines continuously pick it up without stopping is because these ley lines under the ground mix with the metals, creating a continuous supply. We take it out, the metals and elixir fills it back up and vualla.
Gold is made by metals and elixir mixing, and its used by builders (who we pay for upgrades) to buy materials for the upgrades and whatever else they need. They are also used to buy materials to rearm traps (gunpowder, new springs, etc.)
Dark elixir is the rarest form of elixir, which is found deep underground, under the metals and gold and elixir. It's 3 times more powerful, and has to be carefully stored. Because it's so rare, only this elixir can create the "dark" and mysterious creatures found in our dark barracks. It's also consumed and used by the Barbarian King and Archer Queen (which turned them into super huge barbs and arches), witches (who use it to summon dead troops as skeletons), minions (who spit it out), and hogs (which it fuels).
Surprisingly, builders dominate much of our society in our villages. They are the only ones who have the skills to create stuff; not the villagers, not the Wizards, not the Alchemists, no one else. This means they can run a monopoly on their service, and that's why so many upgrades are so expensive. Millions of gold for a single wall? That's gotta be the work of a monopoly. We also give elixir/dark elixir and gold to these builders so that they'll do what we need them to do. But what do they do with all this gold and elixir/dark elixir? The gold (like aforementioned) is used to buy materials for the new buildings, but there's gotta be some leftover that they keep. Also, the fact they live in "huts" with so much gold leftover makes me a bit suspicious... The elixir and dark elixir, however, it used (because of its immortality powers) to make them forever young (and let's face it...they look pretty dang childish). However, they don't know how to use the elixir or dark elixir (for upgrading the armor and abilities of heroes) for anything, and they just drink it. That's why Wizards and Alchemists come into play.
Alchemists are probably the most mysterious part of the game, as no one knows what they look like or anything about them. However, if you check out the "Info" button on the Laboratory and Dark Elixir Drills, it mentions them. These alchemists are very important because 1) they found out how to extract pure Dark Elixir from the mines so far underground and 2) they "upgrade" our troops. How do they upgrade them? They take the elixir and dark elixir that we give to them and use it to experiment on troops, changing their biology to make them fight better. Some may say they perform inhumane experiments on them, first using the elixir to create them and second to change their biology and see what works and what doesn't. That's why they always look different when they're upgraded.
Wizards are very important in our village. Most wizards are used as attack units on raids, but there are also wizards that man the Wizard Towers, and veteran wizards that create spells, and the most talented and daring veteran wizards cook up our Dark Elixir spells. They've also used their magic and tampered with storms, which is how they use fireballs (lower level wizards), lightning (higher level wizards and wizard towers), and trapped a storm inside each of our teslas, which is how they are electrically powered (on a side note, the only things that use electricity that we can see are the Town Halls [notice the light from inside, and it may be a lamp], and the Laboratory [Town Hall 8's seems to have electricity flowing up]).
Troops, like we said, are created from Dark Elixir and Elixir inside Barracks and Dark Barracks by whoknowswho (alchemists, maybe?) and are stationed in Army Camps, where they feed off the stuff on the inside. One thing that I was wondering about them that I think I've figured out is how the food is replenished, and when they sleep. Maybe they just wait around to be deployed in the Army Camps when we're online, and we're offline, they go hunting for more food and sleep. That's why Supercell kicks us off if we've been online for too long, it's cause they need more food or sleep, and Supercell acknowledges that.
Spells are simply concoctions of Dark Elixir and Elixir created by Wizards. They release different types of magic on troops and buildings. So spells are basically bottled up magic created from elixir and dark elixir.
Our heroes (Barbarian King and Archer Queen) started out as two regular barbs and archers, but their ambition won out, and they were the first ones to successfully consume and live on Dark Elixir. This Dark Elixir has made them larger and more powerful than any one of their kind, and made them immortal (this is what happens when elixir troops consume dark elixir. Dark Elixir troops only live off of it, they can't become more powerful with it :( ). We give Dark Elixir to builders to upgrade their equipment/armor/abilities (notice the different colors of things when they level up). They also never die, only get injured and have to sleep it off.
Archers are used as attacking troops and to man Archer Towers. X-bows utilize the elixir we fill them up with to shoot elixir bullets at enemy troops. Inferno Towers use Dark Elixir and shoot rays of it at their enemies, frying them. This presence of Dark Elixir also prevents healing spells from working. Witches may be the long-lost cousins of archers, and they use Dark Elixir to summon skeletons.
Villagers are also confusing to many people, as we just see them walking to random places out of the Town Hall and clapping their hands. But maybe what happens is that they are our inspectors of our base, and they walk around randomly so builders/wizards/other troops never know where they will be and will always be on their best behavior, and they clap because they are satisfied with what they see. They go back to the Town Hall to report to us, then go back out and inspect again. When we are offline, they are just like the troops and sleep and stuff. Also, the reason they are always inspecting whenever we get on is like when someone (like a CEO or general) shows up where you work, and they have lots of power, you always want to be on your best behavior. So when the chief of the village (us) show up, they're like "♥♥♥♥ he's here, let's be on our best behavior" and they're constantly inspecting. When we go off though, they're probably slackers like everyone else.
Also, when we start the game, the Goblins send out a scouting party to our base, but since we obliterated their party, they decided to leave us alone. However, being the horrible human beings we are, we keep building our village, make better troops, invade all of their bases, and take their loot. One attack caused us to declare war and we obliterated them.
Now, all this is simply speculation and theory on my part (Supercell does not confirm nor deny any of this, in case you're wondering), and I just came up with some of this to have fun ;) Anyone wanna expand on my theory?
