The in/ out option for war, should be posted on all copies of a players profile.
This would give everyone more information in their evaluation of a player.
That is the purpose of the profile sheet.

You don't need to know someone's war status unless they are in your clan. A better judgement would be to look at their Clan War stars, and people shouldn't be judged on if they opt in/opt out as there could be hundreds of reasons why not.
