Well, I'm gonna get straight to the topic. When the update came out removing the advantage of lightning spell in damaging storages, I was pretty disappointed. That's because Lightning Spell was pretty much the only way I farmed Dark Elixir which is mostly in the center of one's base. So, I just wanna know how many of you share this disappointment and how many think that the update was for the 'Greater Good' or whatever? Am I wrong on being so dependent on the lightning spell?
Yes you are wrong and that update was a heaven send. Why should I have to go around getting everybody's dark storage in the middle of the base when some noob can come along and zap my hard earned dark? You need to adapt to gibarch to get to the inside of bases, which is very easy to do. Besides, I never understood zapping anyways. Yes, you can cook 5 zaps for 1.5k dark at max...or you can grow a pair and cook some rages and jumps and get the whole 3k. I have never had a problem with someone taking my dark storage(no one has ever attempted) but when I got zapped, get ready to be 3*.
Lightning spell was for noobs. When I was first a TH7 I used it, probably got about 5000 in total of all my zaps out of all 105 000 DE needed to max TH7. I learned to BArch to core other TH7s for 500+ DE and it was much more efficient. Now at TH8 I use GiBArch for bases with 750+ DE. I only use one heal spellQuote:

In short, preupdate you were terrible and lazy. Living off of the fruits others worked hard to get. Post update, at least you realize it. As others have said, gibarch will get you there. Now ya gotta work for it. Welcome to the club and good luck!

No, I'm happy with the update. I didn't get zapped that many times, but it sure is annoying when it happens.
that is not affect me because im in crystal 2 and above and zapping was very rare in high leagues.
It is just amazing that we found supercell will change his mind so often.
they said "zapping is part of the game" and now it is not!!!!!!!!
Now the only problem is some strong th10 will go to bronze to bully weak th9 without the fear of zapping!!!
I think zapping should be brought back for revenge only.
It might stop those other noobs who can only attack weaker opposition using barch, I've always sat in chrystal to masters doing full on raids. Since this update all the barchers who tend to have no idea how to attack full on have scuttled to the lower leagues knowing nobody can revenge them.
So I say nay to zapping on a first attack, but yay revenge.
look at it both ways, others can't zap your de so itts easier to keep itQuote:

The whole farming is about finding weaker base with loot and getting it. Just because you're into leauge bonus and fancy badge doesn't mean those who farm in gold or even silver should be able to be revenged with lightning because they don't get shield within a minute like you do. Don't be so narrow minded. Game is all about hitting your lower th with loot to build your baseQuote:

I never zapped but don't think it should have been removed. With the new matchmaking and no zap there is no incentive to climb out of silver/gold. Before if you wanted dead bases, easy resources you could sit low but got zapped every time or you pushed a bit higher to stop most of it.
I'm glad SC got rid of zapping. Zapping was literally the reason I could barely earn any dark elixir. When I would be saving for an expensive dark elixir troop upgrade, I would be literally zapped 24/7, which prevented me from earning any more dark elixir. They would just zap, and wouldn't even snipe my town hall, so I wouldn't have a shield, and I would be prone to even more zaps. While I did love using it to have my revenge on high level players, it was just a complete nuisance to the game that prevented people from progressing their base.

I had always farmed DE in Crystal with Loonion, so not only was I not affected by the removal I wasn't affected by it's existence either.
During Zapocalypse™, I was zapped maybe 10 times where they actually got enough DE to make me upset... I hardly saw it in Crystal though some may disagree with me.
Personally, I think the Zap protection should only activate above 2000 trophies. Up here and higher, there's no reason to zap. Down in Gold and lower, I understand why it's needed. Many TH7 and TH8 looking for DE with TH9 and TH10 dropping trophies to farm off of lower league players. Sometimes, a TH7 and TH8 can only zap to get DE, or that's the only revenge recourse they have against higher level players.
This would have given incentives for all those complaining about zappers - move up to a higher league if you don't want low level players zapping DE from your maxed TH9/10 bases. Consider zapping below 2000 to be the cost of doing business in the lower leagues.

Maybe my opinion is bias, because I was never really on the "zapping" side of the equation, rather the "zapped" side. That being said, with the introduction of TH7's first DE drill and TH8's second drill, I feel like the need to use lightning spells on DE storage's is merely reflecting on you as a player. Prior to the introduction of the TH7 DE drill, farming enough to buy the Barbarian King was an utter nightmare, I personally remember it taking me a few good months just to be able to purchase the BK without resorting to gems. On the other hand, my younger brother who never knew life as a TH7 before the first drill, had no problem getting his BK to level 5 without spending a single gem. In conclusion I believe this update, while controversial, is truly for the greater good. Had this update taken place back before the introduction of TH7's DE drill, I would probably be on the other side of this, considering just how difficult it was for players to raid enough DE to level up their BK.

Edit: To answer op i got my queen to level 34 and king to lvl 28 and have donated countless dark troops to my clanmates haven't in my coc life zapped even once. Its possible without zapping and to be honest more efficient then zapping is raiding.

My mini account is th5 and the only spell at th5 is lightning so I will say zaping under th5 is good.

I have never understood those who say the only way to revenge a higher town hall was through zapping. I currently have a baby town hall 7 that routinely attacks 9s and tens if I think I can get what I want from them with dragons. When my current th9 was a th8 I used giwipes to revenge th10s all the time towards the end of the th8 cycle. As for the contention that zapping is the only way for a th7-8 to get dark, My 7 is just over a month into 7 and have king maxed for that th, hogs2 one day from finishing and have been sitting on a full dark storage for almost a week to the point that I leave it next to my th......and this is in gold. As far as I can see it's never been easier for a lower th to get dark, in fact that same 7 had 20k heroic heist when it was a 6 with no storage.

I had never zapped. Now my queen is 37 and King is 30 . I didn't farm de before I got my queen . My hh is 5.5 millions.
Before the update, I got zapped average 10 k a day . I was going to quit the game when I got to th10 because I got zapped by th10 s . 5 lightning . 2 k gone . Think about when u reach th9 or th10 one day . If u just use zapping , ppl zap more than u zap. Think it through . Kiddo

I dont like this update (and before you ask i have a th9 and a th10 acc farming heroes so i always have alot of de on both) not because i dont get zapped but it affects the food chain too much and will make it hard for new players to come as it doesnt just mean they cant zap. This. Cook dragons before you go to bed - one good drag raid a day, plus maxing your drills, plus de from war loot should get you plenty of de to keep your lab busy. It's easy at th8 once you hit the goo surplus as you can afford expensive armies. Th7 is more of a challenge, but b2b warring is getting me de on my mini.Quote:

People can play the game how they want. I zapped because I could, I was TH8 full on elixir. I don't care how people attacked me. If the game allows it, nothing wrong with it. There were, and still are, bigger problems than zapping.
Kicking people from your clan because they zapped, calling OP a noob etc....that adds nothing to this thread. In fact, how other people raid is their choice.
Ultimately, if you were reliant on zapping, you would be making very slow progress.
Too many people don't realise the forums are for (allegedly) the better, more informed players of the game. That makes up about 1% of the people that play the game.

♥♥♥♥ you noobs need to learn how to farm DE without zapping. Supercell did a great job in getting rid of this cheap, unskilled tactic.
I never zapped DE in the 2 years i spent playing COC, except for when i had too much lightning spells and i need to get rid of them for war purposes.

Sorry but Im glad that its changed. Now I can finally protect my DE and opponents need to fight to get it.
I normally try to got for 2 and more stars when I raid, that means I go straight for the middle.
I totally agree that dark elixir should be harder to come by, and zapping someone's hard earned dark elixir was horrible, in my opinion.
You protect that DE storage with everything you've got, and someone with a few lightnings can just take it? I always thought that was misguided.

People still feel lazy and try to zap me anyways. Yesterday some th7 dropped 1 lightning and saw it didn't work. He then decided to drop another and then another after that.
Depending totally on Zapping is wrong.
But, I used to zap when I was in the champion to do some loot bonus farming.
For me, zapping was just to help not the only way.
Firstly, I don't understanding what do you mean by "food chain". Being low on the food chain you will always be eaten by someone higher, that is how food chain works... If a TH8 zaps a TH10 that's breaking the food chain. 2 years back it was much harder then it is now, we all have been crushed as a TH8 before, the only difference between us is... i do not complain(maxed Th10 now). :unsure:Quote:

I think the trophy-specific storage protecion is a good idea. so the player can choose:

As i wrote in the first page of this topic, removing zapping was a gift for all th10,9 who drop to silver.
But anyway it is also true that for farming de you cannot rely on dead bases. Finding A dead base with full lvl5,6 drills is scarce.
Based on my experience only one out of ten dead base has full lvl5,6 drills.
So you can farm gold,elixir in bronze but for de you should push to crystal3+.
