The fact that "wi" used in gowiwi or gowipe terms for wizards doesn't make sense because you always bring a bunch of wizards for ground attack. Same goes for usage of "go" for golem.
That's why someone came up with terms like "shatterred" and "cold-blooded" which only god know how they came up with the idea of usage of two golems is called shatterred and one cold-blood.

The reason they are so popular is definitely not the name. It is just that they are very viable strategies that do the job very nicely. Using gohog or other variations would be a lot riskier, and people tend to stick to strategies that they know they can always 2-star and possibly 3-star.
