The mysterious ways of the elusive gembox.

Just thought I would share with you this oddity of CoC which I had not come across before.

Recently the leader of the clan I was a co of went inactive, seemingly permanently. He doesn't even log in to check his base and his mines are overflowing. A couple of weeks ago I checked his base and he had a gem box -nothing unusual about that. A few days later I checked again to see if he had returned (I was wondering at this point if it was time to jump ship) and he still hadn't returned and still had the gembox but I could have sworn it was not in the same place.

I obviously just put it down to a lapse of memory but I took a screenshot anyway. I checked a few days later though and sure enough he still hadn't returned but the box had moved again. It happened a few days later too. So it seems that even when we do not visit our bases maybe even when we are sleeping that our gemboxes have a life of their own and wander round our village (or maybe the village maidens move them).

Who knows what what other mysteries these boxes hold.

Weird indeed. Maybe it only happens to inactives? I've had a gem box for a few months now and it hasn't moved (decided to hang on to it cause it's lined up perfectly on the edge with a Xmas tree and a tombstone lol).

Not how it works, at all.

Never has a gem box ever been deleted by any action other than the player's voluntary removal of it.



...Or their annoying little brother.






Also, I don't see what's so fishy about the pics to be honest.
You could easily just have gone inactive after removing the first box and waited until the second box came up, taken a screenshot, and posted it over here.

This can happen to any obstacle if the base owner doesn't log on to "lock" in in place. Last Christmas, a clanmate of mine got a Christmas tree on the fringe of his base, which is where he wanted one. After I told him it was there, he logged on to check it out and it was on the other side of the base and not on the finge! It will continue to randomly move around until the owner logs on.
