Why is Air Defense 4 take so long to build? (and the rest.)

Now, this is coming from someone well aware everything takes forever and a half to build and that I'm sure it will only get worse. (that's basically the point.) I'm a town hall 6, and every other upgrade takes 1 to 2 days. The air defense takes FIVE days. (the town hall 7 is only a day more.)

It's an absurd time difference from every other thing. And town hall 7 literally gives you a dozen possible upgrades in an extra day. VS. a single upgrade. Now I get why it might be so expensive. (and it is.) Because air units are definitely some of the stronger ones I've seen. But balancing wise, it seems quite imbalanced compared to the rest of town hall 6's stuff.

Does anyone else find it a bit ridiculous...Is there any other extreme differences I can look forward to? (Town hall aside...>.>)

Also, I couldn't log in the whole last night on this forum (or even see it.) I'll assume it was down because it was very frustrating as it kept screwing up my password. Saying it was wrong over and over again. Also I had to google renew password...Where is the quick way to get into it? Most sites, (like all of them) if you forget your password usually there's a quick and easy. "Trouble with password?" Help didn't have it. (And it probably should.) So am I blind or is this literally the only forum on the planet that has no easy shortcut to a reset password?

Also while I'm ranting...The pvp raiding is getting obnoxious. Almost every person that attacks me, in the literal second I go to do something else. Twice or Thrice in a matter of seconds. Also everyone is either 100's of trophies higher or about 5-10 levels higher...So I can't really get revenge on a high percent of them. But every single time I've ever attacked in pvp. I fight people higher level than me. Also it always seems people I could attack, have like endless shields that never go away until the disappear on my revenge list. >.> (Its like the game is mocking me.) So to turn this to a question aside from does anyone else experience this or am I just lucky?...Why are the cooldowns so long for the shields? It's not a pay to win thing, because you can't attack either. (or at least as much as paying for builders/finishing buildings.) And its pretty wonderful having a bit of peace. (And its stops you from making more money in a small way.) I get having a cool down maybe equal to how long it protected you, but the length of it seems a bit much.

Just some things I'm throwing out there as questions and suggestions...

LOL, 5 days is nothing at TH10, but you need your defenses up a lot more than I do. With infernos, xbows, lava walls etc, having a defense down means nothing to me. But when I was TH7/8, I would get crushed when I had a couple defenses down. So even though it takes longer at TH9/10, you can still defend yourself and don't feel like a sitting duck. Just upgrade and don't think about it, 5 days goes by fast.

As far as getting raided. Put your Th outside your base. Hope someone comes and snipes it. Do not break your shield, unless: you can attack a couple times, have very little loot, or the shield is about to break soon anyway. You can't attack once and log off, you will lose too much. At TH10, yeah you can get away with doing that, but at TH6, no chance.

One that got me was hidden tesla at th8 since there are 3 levels to upgrade (th7 max is 3, th8 max level is 6). These 3 levels take 6+8+10 days.

Times are just going to get longer, ads and teslas are always bad for length (as are xbows and infernos).

Air defenses are very important to the game! They can stop an air attack in its tracks.

Max air defence takes 12 days each. At TH10 pretty much every upgrade except for Cannons and Archer Towers takes 10+ days.

I've always assumed cost and length of upgrade reflects supercell's perception of how important that particular building is, which is why I've always done the longer more expensive upgrades first. But I could be wrong, probably...

Short upgrades would make it hard to keep builders busy.

I'm TH8 and upgrading teslas and if you think 5 days are a lot then well bad news
assuming you upgrade to TH8 with 2 level 3 teslas you have 3 new levels that take 6, 8 and 10 days (24 total)
AND you have a brand new tesla that will take 1+3+5+6+8+10 days (33 total)
and ofc don't forget the new air defense (I don't know the whole breakdown but level 5 to 6 takes a grand total of 8 days)

As long as you move into the game the times will keep expanding... so in a few months you'll probably say 5 days are nothing

Before level 8 teslas came out, they used to take even longer. Used to be 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 and 14 up to level 7. So be glad?! lol. :confused:

Thats nothing dude. Its way longer than other defenses because it does a lot more damage compared to other defenses. AD are very important later on.

As most others have mentioned wait until you have to wait 12-14 days for teslas archer towers and troop upgrades.

Welcome to the game and the mechanic that gives you a reason to spend money on the game. I really don't recommend spending that much money just to finish constructing a defense but this opportunity cost is how supercell makes it's money. You either gem complete it or let it take 14 days to complete, that's just how it is.

Upgrade defenses responsibly, one down AD won't kill you. I'd recommend not upgrading more than 2 or 3 defenses at a time if I were you though.

This is right in most cases IMO

The longest upgrade times are for tesla lvl8, inferno lvl3 and xbow lvl4 which at th10 are the critical defenses that will most probably alter the result of battle if used well(defender pov) and quickly destroyed/shutdown by freeze(attacker pov). Other defenses are mostly on sides and will be taken down during first 20 seconds of attack on the attacked side

Air Defences take so long to build and upgrade because they shoot rockets. Do you know how long it takes to build a rocket? A very long time. In comparison, upgrading a mortar or wizard tower is easier because all you have to do is make it look nicer. But air defences are the bad boys. Upgrading a rocket would never take just 3 days. :smirk:

Supercell did this in purpose so players would buy gems and they would make some profit. As you progress along the game, every building will just take longer times.

EXACTLY! :smirk: I just maxed out my AD as th 9 and it REALLY took forever. Thank goodness I can get it over with...

These long upgrade times are actually beneficial. Say for example, I am upgrading to lvl 6 balloons which takes 10 days and costs 6 million, for my next upgrade I will have to save another 6 million. Instead of just raiding and aiming to just get 6 million in a day or two, I could involve time management and farm 1 million everyday. This is the same with defenses at higher town hall levels.

However, those times are put in place by Supercell to make some money and to keep people coming back to the game for at least ~1 year.

At th8 you can ug teslas to lvl6. they cost 3mil gold and take 10 days. This is the exact same time and cost of ug th to lvl 9

The air defense is probably the most important upgrade at TH6, so I think that explains it.

Good thing that you only have 30 million gold and 48 days to finish them at TH10.

Everything will get longer, slower, and more tedious. It will take more resources to build. Building times will increase by a lot. And the attacks against you will get nastier with a lot more resources taken. It is unfortunately the way the game works. You are at one of the last town hall levels that is still simple and quick enough to be fun (town hall 7 may also qualify). TH8 is where the tedium will start and it only gets worse from there.

I do love how, so many people mentioned town halls taking so long. When I said I know how long town halls take. BUT THOSE GIVE YOU, LIKE A DOZEN OR MORE UPGRADE possibilities, and this is a single, not that huge, upgrade...I think you missed the point just a wee bit. Its not that it takes so long, but why it took so long compared to everything else in TH6? TH7 taking 6 days is far more substantial due to how much it gives me in return. But this is a single base upgrade. :3 Just saying.

Though I understand the times will get longer and longer. ^^'. Another reason, I'd love shields having less ridiculous cooldowns so I could use those to let my base progress a bit more peacefully. Oh wells I'm sure I'll get used to it...
