Why not have a ClashCon in the U.S.?

I'm puzzled as to why Supercell hasn't decided to have a ClashCon in america yet? I believe a majority of the older players and also the newer players are from here and I know it would be a huge event that would draw so many people from all over the country and also would get great press. Maybe they are planning one in the near future? We could only hope.

Because America makes up a much smaller part of the world than most Americans think.

Yeah but not a small part in clash of clans. A majority of the players seem to be from america, India, and China. Maybe I'm wrong?

Probably depends on the clans you are in and when you start war.

Playing with a bunch of Europeans at the moment and we are much more likely to pull European/Asian clans when we war because of the start time.

clash is massive everywhere, Asia, Europe, middle east etc america is a big community but im sure not the biggest

So now back to the original question...because I think it would be a HUGE event over here and would spark even more interest in the game in this country as well.

3rd most people in the world by country but it does pale in comparison to India and China. If the reason for convention placement was based on population then it would be in China.

To the OP: It makes sense to have it in Helsinki this year but depending on the success of the event I don't see any reason why future clash conventions can't be held in other areas. There's nothing to say there can't be multiple conventions in different cities.

If the stats on that sight are accurate then the U.S. does lead in accounts by a wide margin considering the 6 time zones the information is broken down into.

I agree with all of this. I think, eventually, there will be a ClashCon USA, ClashCon India, etc. Given that the home base of operations for Supercell is in Finland, it makes perfect sense to host the very first ever ClashCon at home, not abroad.

It's much easier for a Finnish company to set up a large scale event in Finland than it is to do it in USA.

The marketing team will have a time frame and budget. They also need to take into account regulations which I'm sure the USA has not shortage of (health and safety, tax on income from the event etc etc).

Because it's not all about americans, there are and other parts of world u havent heard of yet, europe for exemple?

I can see the criticism now, "why have clashcon in New York and not L.A., that's the other side of the country from me."

It's a sight that seemingly uses server data to display the number of accounts online/offline and the loot generated for any given region...kinda pointless to show bias in something like that.

My reasoning would be since Apple is an American company it would make sense to have it here, since CoC success is platform dependent.

On the other hand, I can't think of city, on the East Coast, that would be good for this sort of thing.

Well I would geuss it's because it's the first clash con and they would probaly want to have it in their own country first. That's the only reason I could think of as to why they would have it in Finland. (No offense to people in Finland) I thought that most players were either American or Asian and maybe I'm right and maybe I'm not. I wouldn't doubt that if their is another clash con that it will definitely be in a different country. Also some people will actually go to Finland for it even if there in the U.S. Or China or Asia. It will probaly still get people from different country's to come.

Why should they spend lotsa money to do the clash con in the US?. Tickets to get there would be more expensive, Maybe Hotels for the guests will be more expensive and dont forget.
The US isnt the most friendly country to go to.
Some people who made a dumb mistake in their younger life wouldnt be allowed to get into the US because of all their idiotic rules (no offence)

So my question to you, if you have to choose to do organise something and invite guests for a surtain amount of money, would you do it in your country, or in some other country for double or triple the price?.

When hosting your first large marketing convention and figuring everything out, would you rather have you and your employees be like 0-100 km from the office/home or 7,000 km from the office/home?

Interesting point of view. However, how do you explain countries like China or Japan where China is comparably the same size as US and Japan is an isolated country surrounded by sea?

To me, that kind of prowess in Americans is simply US's world dominance in everything it does. From economy, military, technology, sports, language, Americans don't see a need to know other countries because they are already the best in most of the things they do. Honestly, it is a very short-sighted view and these Americans are confined into their own culture and eventually they will fall far behind to the rest of the world. Americans living in big cities like San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, Houston..etc are very open minded because the cultures in those cities are so diverse. It is the Americans who live in lesser cities who still think everything should revolve around America...

The location for ClashCon makes sense for the creators, I'm American and would love clashcon but that's just how it is.

Now if the creators want to they can always have ClashCon types of events all over the world to celebrate with all of their fans, but that's up to them. That would be awesome!

Think of it as a good excuse to travel to another country! Sure it's more of a commitment to go to another country, but you get to do some sightseeing while you're there.

Supercell has roots there, and it makes sense to have an event in your home town.

America IS dominant in just about everything and everything they AREN'T dominant in, they downplay. That's why we Americans think everything revolves around us. We just don't give enough credit to other countries I think.

1. This is the first and so far only scheduled clashccn
2. Supercell HQ is in Finland, so respectfully they should have the first clashcon there
3. A lot of the first players were in Finland and those are the people that are going to go to clashccn

There are other major companies out there that do the same thing: Mojang. Notice how Minecon is almost always in Europe? It's a European country. What about Apple when thy introduce a new product? They do it California. Countries based in one region of the world typically host their events there, not only because of convienience, but I can bet you there are a lot more Finnish players then Canadians etc. Why? Because it's a big game and company - that is based and was started in their country.

I understand your point of view, but most of the Clash of Clans developers reside in Europe, which is why they're hosting the ClashCon in Europe not in America. I see where you're going with your idea, though because a huge amount of Clash players are either North American or from various Asian countries, but it's like saying going to your neighbours house to play video games when you have the same game in the comfort of your home.

Bias is in the fact that everything on that website is nothing but pure speculation and assumptions. Not based on any real server data and is the definition of a dog and pony show of an app.

As for the topic in hand, my reasoning is the costs and logistics of the event. There are far more people that can either get to the US location or get to any location in the US. Tickets to get from one costs to another is significantly cheaper than the same distance traveled but between different countries. Then there's the notion of getting a visa for Finland. How often have you needed to go to Finland? But a visa to the U.S. can serve future travel and events.

Vegas would have made the most sense as far as the widest reach for the convention. East travel for most americans, canadians' south americans. Simple travel from Asia (you should see how many Chinese tourist go to vegas!)

It must would have made more sense

Why is Blizzcon not in Europe or Asia? Why is Vidcon not there as well? Muricans...

It's funny when Americans think they are the only ones on the planet. SC isn't an American company either.

Its in finland due to logistics its the first clashcon stuff will go wrong and they will need to quickly grab something from office i suspect the first one outside of europe if there is in san fransisco not because of any american bias but since they have an office there logistics to do that compared to a random place would be easier

Most people look at their own country's propaganda media because easier to look at the news of your own country. :p

Also, if News Reporters spammed "We're number 2! We're number 2!" all over their broadcasts it would be the job with the highest casualty rate.

As for the topic in hand, my reasoning is the costs and logistics of the event. There are far more people that can either get to the US location or get to any location in the US. Tickets to get from one costs to another is significantly cheaper than the same distance traveled but between different countries. Then there's the notion of getting a visa for Finland. How often have you needed to go to Finland? But a visa to the U.S. can serve future travel and events.

Vegas would have made the most sense as far as the widest reach for the convention. East travel for most americans, canadians' south americans. Simple travel from Asia (you should see how many Chinese tourist go to vegas!)

Initially looked at the sight on my phone earlier which with the small print on the side was far too difficult to read on that device, so did not realize that it was a sim at the time, however the bias implied was one of a language bias as in becasuse it was written in English which I really don't see here as alledgedly the country makeup input were derived from market share info......but that is if the info is taken at face value. In any case it is where it is and if it was 2 blocks from me I'd still have the same lack of interest in attending, just as I like used to like comics and live in San Diego.....still would never go to Comic-Con.

We're not the "best," we're the biggest and not for long. The United States has been slipping behind global competition in nearly every category, except for probably income growth at the top of the economic food chain.

Well, I'm from a smaller city in the middle of the United States (Oklahoma City) and it's probably more a function of whether you're privileged enough to travel and whether you've had a good formal education--which in the U.S. is becoming less and less accessible. As I said, travel and experiencing cultures and peoples with completely different histories from your own people's history is far more accessible in Europe and other countries--it's mostly a function of how geography molds culture.

Thread has gone waaaaaay off topic, into the realm of insults, racism, insulting pictures, slandering each others countries e.c.t.

To OP;

1. SuperCell is a Finnish company, so having it in Finland makes sense. Easier to organise, easier to set up, just easier in general.
2. This is the first ever official Clash Con, with no others planned at this stage. You could not get an answer as to whether one would be hosted in America.
3. This event is for the community. Not for publicity or money. To say it would get greater press coverage in Finland is an irrelevant point.
