Thats a difficult question.
IMHO it is a fundamental problem in this game that it is almost pointless to war at TH9+ when both heroes are upgrading. It takes a lot away from the fun.
I think the earlier you get it done the better.
My heroes have been upgrading non stop for the last 3 months which for me have meant no wars at all which sucks big time.

I don't think there is such a time lol. I just accepted I have only one hero. One hero down all time.
Attack early and immediately following your second attack put your hero down. Then you're only gemming about 5 days worth of time instead of 7.Quote:

That's why the smart rusher never bother maxing at th8. Because want high level heroes as possible while working on defenses. You th8 maxers will usually end up maxed th9 defenses with skull and lego walls and around 15 both heroes while your defenses already maxed.
Either gem some time off them or get used to warring/raiding without them. We war twice a week. I start the upgrade after my last attack and gem whatever time is left before my attack in the next war. Just depends if your clan is serious or not. But I would never war without both heroes, that's just riding your clan.
Without gemming time, you won't hit level 30 heroes for a year easy. I don't see any way of not gemming time, if you want to war.
Just do a th8.5 and keep both heroes upgrading.As a th8.5 you wont need heroes to hit premie th9/max th8.
If you're in a back to back warring clan, its best to keep 1 hero down rather than 2 all the time. Otherwise getting 3 stars might be very difficult.
