One of the main reasons I don't require a ty is because donations are required, not always an act of kindness that ought to warrant a ty. But, despite my own reasoning, I still keep right on doing it, and sometimes, I think it's more habitual than anything, but then again, something so respectful as thanking someone isn't necessarily a bad habit. I can't help but appreciate the op, and to be brutally honest, we could probably do without a ty once in a while. I don't get extreme and ty every single time, but usually, if I don't, there is a genuine good reason--like i left to attack before being filled up--or simply gone and was donated to while away. Solution? I'm not so sure I want to outright discourage others to refrain--as I think the positives outweighs the negatives.
