To thank, or not to thank? That is the question.

I am the leader of Walrus, and I do not require thank you's, but I try to thank the vast majority of those that donate; likewise, I give a you're welcome to most that thank me. It breeds respect and good manners amongst those that may not always be used to it; however, I do not object to the notion that it's not necessary. One of the main reasons I don't require a ty is because donations are required, not always an act of kindness that ought to warrant a ty. But, despite my own reasoning, I still keep right on doing it, and sometimes, I think it's more habitual than anything, but then again, something so respectful as thanking someone isn't necessarily a bad habit. I can't help but appreciate the op, and to be brutally honest, we could probably do without a ty once in a while. I don't get extreme and ty every single time, but usually, if I don't, there is a genuine good reason--like i left to attack before being filled up--or simply gone and was donated to while away. Solution? I'm not so sure I want to outright discourage others to refrain--as I think the positives outweighs the negatives.

I guess expressing gratitude for receiving troops is never a bad thing

It's polite and someone could have used there troops on their attacks but they donated which is optional and nice. It's only 2 quick letters "Ty" or "tnx" and a simple "np". Im so sorry if its hard to click to buttons

I don't always thank, but make an effort to when new members donate so they know they are welcomed. And make a point of thanking anyone who gives me a really good troop like a dragon.

I get disappointed when I drop a few dragons as donations with no thanks. But don't care for thanks when I drop standard troops like archers.

I'm just being honest when I say that thanking everyone individually is bothersome. I'm all for respecting your, excuse the pun, elders but it can be too much sometimes.

I understand when you say that it breeds respect and good manners among those in your clan. You need to set standards and that's one reason I didn't add to my post as to why some may choose for their members to say thank you. Every clan is different. If one chooses to refrain from being polite or not that's up to them, just don't do it in real life or you'll just be considered rude outside of CoC which is not what I would want someone to do. It's not hard if you do it once in a while. It gets cumbersome when you have things to do outside CoC but you're requesting and donating and giving out ty's and yw's and it stops you from closing your device to get back to what you were actually doing. If it were a simple ty I wouldn't have written this post but when you're expected to do it every time repeatedly especially if the clan requires you to do it individually then that's just an annoying issue.

I agree with thanking new members. It shows that they're indeed welcomed, I'll make sure to do that next time a new member comes in. We are so use to not saying ty that when a new member comes in it must be strange to him to see that no one is saying yw back haha But after a day they get the point since they start noticing that no one else is saying ty/yw. No one in our clan is rude, we just aren't bothered by it.

The thanks is implied, so I don't get mad if noone says it.

My clan requires that you thank by name, but I think this is pretty stupid becuase it just spams the chat and honestly, not that many people care if they actually get thanked for there donation.

I'm in a clan where most people request without thanking and believe me when I say it's a breath of fresh air. More than 3/4 of the clan has over 1,000 donations by the end of the season so req/don are never a problem. I personally average 2,000-3,000 donations by the end of the season. Before going into that clan I was in 3 previous clans and it was annoying having to thank everyone for their troops and being polite back with a "ty". Plus people who get offended for someone not saying thank you in clash of clans is ridiculous in my opinion. Another problem is that sometimes requests get drowned to the bottom of the chat by all those "ty's" plus the on-going conversations piled on top of that, especially if you have a chatty clan.

I've seen some say it's a way to keep track of who's not donating but the request/donation ratio is enough to expose who the non-donator is. Don't get the wrong impression, outside of clash of clans I'm a very polite individual. I thank every single person who helps me, I open doors for strangers, say you're welcome to anyone who thanks me for something, etc. I even help out newbies on the forum by providing them links to other threads that would more thoroughly answer their question or by providing them with simple answers that some people would dismiss with a "r u ♥♥♥♥♥♥ed??!!" reply. I just think it clogs up the chat and people shouldn't be obligated to say "ty" unless it's going to morally kill them inside if they don't.

So do you agree or disagree?

TL;DR OP doesn't think thanking after every request is necessary since it creates annoyances in the chat.

it's absolutely ridiculous to say ty and yw every single time a donation is made. and it even more frustrates me when i have a clown in my clan say "it's polite to say thank you" after he has given me troops (most likely 6 archers). In my eyes, donating is an obligation not something done out of the "kindness out of your heart". do you really require a "thank you" for the 1800 elixer you just spent on archers for me? I know 1800 elixer is just such a crazy high amount that a thank you is required (sarcasm). but jesus man, people specifically looking for thank yous are seriously annoying
