To thank, or not to thank? That is the question.

I've always wanted to ask this question on the forum since it comes up often when there's an issue about people not donating or anything else relating to donations. Now that I have some free time I'm inclined to write this thread. To be honest I'm okay with people not saying thank you to me since it just fills up the chat with a bunch of "ty", "thank you", "np", "you're welcome", "yw", etc. It gets even worse when there's more than 2 people requesting and it's politeness overload. I say, just take your troops and let the conversation on the chat go on without someone breaking it up with a load of thankfulness and welcomes. For every "thank you" you get anywhere between 3-6 "yw's" haha

I'm in a clan where most people request without thanking and believe me when I say it's a breath of fresh air. More than 3/4 of the clan has over 1,000 donations by the end of the season so req/don are never a problem. I personally average 2,000-3,000 donations by the end of the season. Before going into that clan I was in 3 previous clans and it was annoying having to thank everyone for their troops and being polite back with a "ty". Plus people who get offended for someone not saying thank you in clash of clans is ridiculous in my opinion. Another problem is that sometimes requests get drowned to the bottom of the chat by all those "ty's" plus the on-going conversations piled on top of that, especially if you have a chatty clan.

I've seen some say it's a way to keep track of who's not donating but the request/donation ratio is enough to expose who the non-donator is. Don't get the wrong impression, outside of clash of clans I'm a very polite individual. I thank every single person who helps me, I open doors for strangers, say you're welcome to anyone who thanks me for something, etc. I even help out newbies on the forum by providing them links to other threads that would more thoroughly answer their question or by providing them with simple answers that some people would dismiss with a "r u ♥♥♥♥♥♥ed??!!" reply. I just think it clogs up the chat and people shouldn't be obligated to say "ty" unless it's going to morally kill them inside if they don't.

So do you agree or disagree?

Yeah I don't think it's necessary.. doesn't contribute to the chat. Now that there's the request message, I just write a "thanks in adv" type of message. And thanks for the TL;DR.

I think it's ok to say ty or such if you get something bigger, like a dragon, pekka or golem. But to say thanks for every archer would just spam the chat for nothing. The request says thanks for donating already so I'm fine with that.

I would say thank you, if I meant it. So, if I got dragons or wizards or whatever, but for standard troops, it's not really nessasary, and for low level troops, certainly not.

I only donate to those who say thank you. Good manners is good manners and I appreciate it. I don't give a hoot about how much space it takes on the chat board. That doesn't excuse rudeness. The more TYs I get, the better the troops I donate.

Most our clan at least does "ty" many even name all the donaters. I think if it's part of the clan's culture it's up to you to decide whether you want to stay or go.

I neither thank nor expect thanks. It's not really a favor or an inconvenience, that's what clans do. There's really only one reason to join a clan: give and get clan troops. Being elder is virtually pointless as if you really wanted to kick/accept people, you could just make your own clan for 40k.

On the other hand, I want to give anti-thanks to people that give multiple wallbreakers, balloons, or mixed troops. I usually dont' say anything but immediately dump them into a gob village.

I tell my clan mates don't thank me, thank my archers for walking into your clan castle ;)

I prefer not having excess thank yous, after the request disappears all you see in the chat logs are thanks comments. Donating back is thank you enough!

Putting a request up already has an implied ty and yw written all over it. Ty for the troops and yw for the exp.
