Supercell doesn't need to convince you. I didn't buy gems until I was near max because I like the game and see a gem purchase a "thank you" message for a great game
I progressed through the whole game and never needed to buy gems and so can do everyone. Still if you like to progress faster you can use gems and have what you want. Whatever you choose good luck in your clash journey :)

THE GAME IS REALLY, REALLY, DULL without boosts.
Seriously now, don't know how anyone plays without at least 1 barrack, or hero, or spells boosted. It's awful.

Seems like someone is an avid cloud-watcher! I used to look up at the clouds and try and make animals, people or shapes out of them. And seeing that J in the clouds just ravishes me! XD
