GoWipe is only able to get you three stars if executed to complete perfection.. If you just can't change the ways of your clan mate's and they are just constantly ignoring your suggestions on starting to learn three star strategy then I suggest it's time for you to move on to an Elite War Clan (as well as open-minded)!
There are only 3 3 star attacks in th8, dragon, hog and Gowipe. I love all hoggers, it's an all-or-nothing attack. But it's not for all bases. Nor is dragoning . Nor is gowiping. Yes back end stuff to Gowipe helps, as does donations from th9 or th10s. I don't exactly know what an "elite" clan is, but a clan full of ppl who love to war and love to get better, and are open minded- to me that's the perfect clan.
good luck! The video suggestion was a good one.
Quite conflicting opinions in the comments so far. Let me make my own opinion.. As someone said, there are many 3 star attacks at TH 8 which you can do against other TH 8s, most noteable ones are Mass dragon and Mass hog attack. The trouble with those attacks is that, it's either 1 or 3 stars and rarely 2 stars. With the inclusion of Air sweeper and buildings' hp increase, people found dragon attacks a lot more challenging, hence they shifted to a more safer bet "GoWiPe". It will give you sure 2 stars and with the right base (most anti-air bases), it can be an easy 3 stars as well! But against well built layouts, 2 stars is all you're gonna get.
Now coming towards OP's dilema. I know exactly how it feels, me as a leader tried so hard to make my clanmates try out and learn new attacks but it eventually happened with time.. As many already said, make them do those attacks outside wars, share a lot of replays and ask them to go to YouTube and check other people doing and teaching those attacks. YT is the best place to learn imo if they could find out some free time. Not abandoning them is the way to go! Good luck.
Dud, not an easy attack. Get skill and you will learn.
for my clan, it took a few war loss in a war with elite clan where they 3 stars all of our TH9 and 8 (yeah, it was a few loss in a short time), so they finally realize that 2 starring TH9 and 8 is the way to continue losing.
There's still some hard headed who don't care and do stupid Gowipe on bases with a lot of compartments and Gowi (with 2 golem). It's hard. If I'm one of the leader, I might ban all of those stupid guys from war.
Thankfully the people who learn is the majority, so right now we're doing fine with Golaloon and Gohowiwi even though some dumb people seems to never learn and never listen to advices
I really liked this response, it makes sense that when th7s transition to th8 they use dragons because that is what they know and now that that is harder to do they need a fallback. I'll take your advice and post replays, point them towards good sources, and just try to help them. Thanks again. And to Cargovroom GoWiPe is by far the easiest attack I've used thus far, I much prefer the planned pathing of hogs to the mindless funneling of GoWiPe.
^This. You need a mix of 2 star raiders and 3 star raiders to put up consistent 2 star raid and intel gathering so your 3 star attackers would have a better chance at 3 starring. Also, one needs to learn and get good at gowi base attacks before one can add on backend hogs/loons for surgical 3 star gowi base attacks. It is very easy to do gowi poorly, it is much harder to go a gowi well. The trick is golem pathing, and how do you keep them in front of ur wiwi? Jump/Eq plays a big part. Well done gowi attacks aren't lazy .... only low level noobs think that.
It seems I need a bit of a lesson in warring. Can I ask what kind of ratios I'm looking for between my 3 star and 2 star attackers? Should we let the 2 star attackers go first, instead of the attack your lateral? I believe my clanmates are good gowipe attackers, what variation of it do you think would best suite them if they have only used gowipe and nothing else? And lastly you wouldn't happen to know a video that covers golem pathing? I'll search youtube but you could save me some time. Thanks in advance.
Competent gowi attackers are very consistent at getting 2 stars. If the opponent has 10 th9 bases, you need 5-6 gowi attackers realistically, and the rest can go laloon/goho/whatever crazy combo they know and roll for 3. The more efficient they are at getting those early 2 stars, the more shots your 3 star hitters has at rolling a 3. Jump should always get the golem over middle into core. Try to cut a wide path to core to pick up percentage and protect your wiz/aq from the flank. When scouting, they need to read where the defences are, where to place jump, so golem will cut a nice path to core while protecting wizzies behind and from the flanks. Lastly, not everyone is going to want to learn to be a 3 star hitter, which is fine cuz really you only need a few as they each have 2 attacks each.
PS Don't hit mirror, that's not efficient. Let them hit same th level, but one that they are sure they can 2 star easy.
