This is a COC glitch which occurs every now and again, where you receive troops which quickly "disappear", to be replaced with new troops. If you replace these troops they will stay in your CC until you use them, in which case the old CC troops will resurface after the new ones are used. I have had this happen to me before, with witches and wizards, it is quite annoying.
I had a strange thing happened to me. My cc had 4 valks and 2 barbs in it. I was still missing 1 barb and the exact second I was requesting again someone gave me the last barb. barb excepted so I now had 35 spaces filled in my cc but my new request showed 34/35. Another guy donated me a barb and poof, one of the valks disappear!!! tried to close the app and open it again and it didn't work. So I erased one barb and tah-dah, the valk returned from the dead...
My clanmate just confirmed to me he did donate a hound + loon.
So I'm officially not crazy !
