I think with all the new updates that have recently happened, defences have become a lot harder to win. (Evidence of this can be found at looking at top players, most win loads of attacks but rarely win any defences.) To combat these new troops and spells I think supercell should release a Purely Defensive Update. I have several ideas for this.
Idea 1
My first idea is a long ranged ice turret that deals low damage but has the effect of slowing down enemy troops . I would suggest that it dealt splash damage and fire slightly quicker than mortar but still slow. This should be unlocked later in the game, around TH8 or TH9.
Idea 2
My second is a garrison. It would work quite similar to a clan castle but the troops must come from the owner of the garrison and cannot be used to attack. Every time the troops die the garrison would have to be restocked. I think the first garrison should be unlocked at TH 6 and the second at TH 10.
Idea 3
Another idea that I have is a turret that is in the air. Because it is in the air ground troops (as well as balloons) would not be able to attack it. It should deal medium damage and have a range similar in to an archer tower. I think this should be unlocked around TH 7 (before TH7 the only troops that could attack it would be archers and wizards, but TH7 unlocks both dragons and minions).
Idea 4
My fourth and final idea are blessings/statues. These are small buildings 2x2 that give bonuses such as a faster rate of fire or bonus health and damage. However these statues should not be unlocked by upgrading a town hall but by several single player campaigns. These campaigns should be very hard. And each statue should be unlocked by completing a campaign. It would also be cool if there was a slightly easier campaign, intended for lower TH levels that boosted recource production. These blessings would have a certain range and any buildings in that area would receive the bonus.
