I have been curious about what a typical level was for a th 8? I'm lvl 90 and all my defenses are maxed except walls... I still have elixir collectors to take up one lvl and gold mines can go up 2 lvls... I forgot teslas can go up 1 more lvl... And 1 dark barrack up 2 lvls... 2 regular barracks to go up 1 lvl... So there's still plenty of xp to be had at th 8... My other question is should I go ahead and bump up to th9 or 100% max th 8... Any comments would be appreciated ty guys!
I'm a level 92 TH8 just working on walls and still have a couple more things left in the lab (last level of minions, goblins, rage, dark spells, and healer) for what it's worth.. I'd definitely say finish the teslas before going to 9, get the other dark barracks up to 4 so you're not screwed when you're upgrading (regular barracks don't really matter).. My philosophy is when you finish the lab and defenses you should go up
The level of mostly just shows how much donating you do. It's not really a good barometer of anything else.
Max TH8 completely. I'm almost maxed for TH9, just have walls, traps, dark spells, and my barb king left. I didn't max walls at TH8 which I wish I did max, so you should fully max TH8 before you upgrade (golems, king, walls, traps, teslas, valkyries, etc., all included.)
EDIT 1: By the way, maxed out TH8s are usually level 90 if they're average donators, though I have seen some as low as level 78. Some are level 100 or even level 110 though as they're high donators with FINs ranging from 75k-200k.
im lvl 94, th is being upgraded to 9 at the moment. we have a lvl 100 th8 in our clan.
as one of the posters above has said, the exp lvl difference of any given maxed th's at their own lvl is due to donations and achievements.
I was level 90 with every single thing except for the earthquake spell maxed.
I think it's valuable to get those walls done and troops maxed.
I would max everything in the lab except healer goblins and lightning spell. i would also max everything other than walls, or once all elixir upgrades except for those few things in the lab are done. Basically once your unable to do anything with elixir i would upgrade the townhall, because all that elixir your sitting on at th8 could be used on th9 and make maxing your account faster. I made this mistake and was sitting on full elixir storages for a few months before upgrade my town hall. I'm now a town hall 9 with 210 level 8 walls and in my opinion it is better to not stay at th8 for ages just to max your walls and waste all that elixir you are getting.

you should definitely finish all defenses before moving up to th9, especially teslas. The lab time at th8 is way more than build time. For me I have to leave out some lab upgrades, i.e. healer, gob, two dark spells., but maxed everything else. I just can't let my 5 builders sit (or sleep to be exact) there for another two weeks or something, as they've already been idling for a few weeks while i finished up all the walls.
