As others have posted, earthquake and jump are frequently used to defeat walls. However, players are often reluctant to use spells on outer walls (outside of cold blooded or shattered strategies where they're going to go air and your core walls won't matter anyway) and have a tendency toward wallbreakers instead. Good outer defenses and pathing can reduce the risk of wallbreakers and great walls can force them to use an extra wallbreaker, whereas core walls are often unreachable by wallbreakers, so ok core walls are often good enough. I hope that makes sense.
