I actually had a similar idea, but instead of an entry fee, it's an invite system based on trophies. The top 200 players at each TH level for TH7+ would be invited to participate, with the idea of finding out who really is the best player at each TH.

In some ways, I agree with awesomness2016. Like he said, a round robin would be a better idea than a single elimination tournament. In case you don't know what a round robin is, I'll explain it: one player faces all enemies, and is only allowed to attack each one once. It can be based on the number of stars earned, or a point system based on which attack does better. At the end, the # of stars/points for each player are counted, and are put into place that way.

Also along with awesomness2016's idea, I agree that the tournament shouldn't be available for the lower THs. But starting at TH7 is a bit too high. I think it shouldn't be available for TH 1 and 2, but only for TH3 and up.

Anyway, that's what I think should be changed with this idea. Might want to get more people's opinions though. I still think this is a fantastic new feature.

I used to play a game called Big Win Football, we had clans. We would hold events: Tournaments, Round Robins, King of the Hill, Seasons, ect. Setting up these events took the same amount of time, completing them however is a different story.

As a person who has done all of these the one that takes the longest out of them all is the round robin. With a tournament its one and done. With a Round Robin it takes forever for everyone to go against each person. In Big Win Football (a fast game compared to clash) it took weeks to finish and most of us where from the U.S.A.

In Clash of Clans you have to build armies, and building armies takes resources. Not only do players have to attack in the round robin they need to get resources to fund those armies. On top of that armies are not quick to make. Lastly with different time zones this would be extremely hard getting everyone participate for that time. What your idea is demanding is somthing that would take months and would kill the need for Clan Wars.

Not impossible, just skewed. I think I'd probably lean toward not giving people options, but placing them in a tournament league based on offensive/defensive strength. I also think it would be cool to seed based on trophy level...anything that encourages players to get and keep more trophies is a good thing in my book, and for a variety of reasons, some of which I've already covered, I think this is much better suited for a round robin, especially since it opens up the possibility of larger tournaments.

Both players don't have to be there at the same time to go against each other, so the time frame isn't that different. An 8 player single elimination tourney would take 3 days to complete. Everyone would do 1-3 battles depending on when you get knocked out. An 8 player round robin has everyone doing 7 battles, and could be done in roughly the same time frame, though I might make it 10 players and stretch it 5 days or even a week. And instead of showing up every day for your battle, it also gives you the option of knocking them all out at once.

As far as funding armies goes, that's a relatively simple matter of tweaking the amount of loot the game provides during a battle, similar to war.

That's too long as I've stated before. The reward would have to be greater than clan wars wich is not what I'm going for. My idea is somthing fast and still keeping clan wars relevant. Also you wanted people with similar league ranks and skill. With that you would get either a huge defeat or a bunch of ties, nothing in between.

...except it's not that much of a stretch to do an 8 man round robin in the 3 days that are required for an 8 man single elimination. It's kind of a lot of attacking, but it's really only 1 more attack than if you were in a battle day for clan wars on 3 consecutive days (7 total). And you could also do a combo where you start with 2 groups of 4 and have the winner of each group meet in a final (4 attacks).

And yes...I want similar THs or at least similar offensive and defensive levels because tournaments should test your skill. What I feel like you've set up here though is something that is mainly about luck of the draw.

At higher levels, I don't think you get crushing defeats or a bunch of ties, especially if you have a tie-breaker system that people will actually accept. I think people will be fine with head-to-head score and overall average destruction in case of ties (which you wouldn't need anyway in a single round round-robin), but I do not think most people would like it much if both players have a perfect score but one wins because they finished the battle faster, and that would happen a lot more in head to head matchups vs cumulative scores over a number of attacks.

If the Town Halls are similar they will be extreme amounts of ties.

It doesn't. You are completely missing how it would work...an 8 player round robin wouldn't be scored as 7 individual head to head matchups, but 7 battles where you have the opportunity to get up to 3 stars, which would lead to less of a chance that you'd have to resort to tiebreakers than if you're basing it on a single battle. And if it's a single round tournament, there would be no need for tiebreakers at all.

It wouldn't require you to play every day of the week either, as there are no scheduled matchups like you'd have to have with an elimination bracket. Instead, you have a time period in which to complete all battles for that round, so even if it's an 8 man group, a TH10 could still get all their battles done the first day if they wanted to use 2 sets of boosts on barracks/spell factory/heroes.

Whatever man. I don't think you're grasping the concept of a round robin works. You should go work on you're own thread because as it stands you're bumping my idea basically fueling it. Let's just leave at this game needs more content.
