Every time I post wheat after 2 pm I always have one person come through and buy all the ones that are advertised, no other wheat. I am a wheater and my silo is almost full. I really need the free ads to actually stay. Even putting them in the back doesn't work. Is this just me or does anyone else have it?
List of items that will get ad sniped possibly and solutions:
Wheat: Post earlier or later in the day instead of noon-4pm.
Tomatoes:small chance of getting sniped but almost unavoidable.
It's a bot. It's reading the feed directly from the SC servers and buying up your ads, to keep you from selling wheat.
It's likely ha˘kers who are wheating and selling the expansion items they get for real cash. They need people to buy their wheat, so are targeting other wheaters to reduce the competition.

Thanks for the explanation, Janilee. It would make sense why one person didn't want competition. The person also followed me, so I'm pretty sure it's just that. My trick is to sell early in the morning late at night or try to advertise in the back. Advertise in the back doesn't help much but it gives a chance for it to actually allow people to buy your stuff.
The same thing is happening to tomatoes. I might as well keep a list of items in here being ad sniped.
Well this game is global so your morning is someone else's evening, so time doesn't mean anything, with the possible exception that when the Asians are awake, a lot of activity takes place. A lot of people and a lot of game playing goes on there.Quote:

Yeah, Asians, mainly Indians are 12 hours or so off of my time zone, so basically I just post early or late and its easy to get it done because early is late for them and late is early for them. And my tomatoes just don't sell. And I did just see your thing on putting ads in back, you might just wanna put them in the middle.
Wel my tomatoes kind of sell, only the ads though.
I suggest an ad on indigo or strawberies. Or maybe full price wheat/corn.
Have you tried advertising corn? I'm wondering how that would turn out with the bought bots. Boughts? ;)
Excellent advice! Those are both likely to stay active for a while. I seldom plant either one (my indigo fields are decorative) and occasionally buy them, but not necessarily from a farm that is advertising them, just from a farm I'm visiting for other items--especially low level farms.Quote:

Some have reported the bots are also targeting corn.
Perhaps putting the ad on indigo would work best. You could change your farm name to "cheap wheat" or something, so people would know what you're really selling.
My name is already cheap wheat 24/7. Strawberries will work. Indigo won't sell.
Indigo would eventually sell. Greg or Tom will come and buy it from you if no one else does. Plus isn't that what you want (having the ad up as long possible)?Quote:

My wheat flies out the door too fast for my taste sometimes. I wheat full time and prefer selling to the little people. Although I still advertise my wheat it is mostly when I have plants that need watering. How many followers do you have? Many of my followers buy my wheat as a way of getting my attention when they have boat crates to fill or plants to be watered. Some of them have been following me for months. Give it time. If you help out a lot, the wheat won't sit in your rss for long, ad or no ad.Quote:

Largely because it's my quickest indication that I am not buying from a wheat bot.
If I tap on a cheap wheat ad and there is nothing but wheat in the shop I want to check other indicators about the farm before I buy it.
Goodness knows I have tapped on enough wheat ads looking for what else might be in the shop.
It makes sense to me to tap on not-wheat ads to find wheat.
I just realized this during this boat event and found lots of 10 for 10 wheat on those farms flagged for boat help.
Until the wheat bots change tactics this is one way for me to stay off their farms.
It makes me so mad when I buy cheap wheat and then realize I just bought from a bot!
I have 14 followers, two of them are ad buyers. That's why I put large discounts on my stuff now. 7000 would now be 6700 or so.
So bots can tell which item has the ad? I know that I dont see the actual ad sticky on an item when I visit a roadside stand. If there are multiples, I just click on a random one and hope I'm not taking down the seller's ad.
Someone on this thread said they use the actual server feed to determine which ones are ads. It seems crazy but some do do that.
Too bad the bots only go for wheat ads. I once was selling maps, you know, back when there were maps flooding the DD. I had 10 ads on 11 stalls of maps. How I wished those bots would have come and seen my map ads and bought them LOL.
The bots buy my tomato and carrot ads sometimes to. Not corn, only tomatoes and carrots.
