I searched this question and couldnt find it anywhere.
Have we always paid more ( 5 diamonds) for the treasure chest in the water in town than we have for any land, farm, treasure chest (3 diamonds)?
Because either its a new thing, or I've just come alive and have noticed this recently. Which is highly possible. Thanks for any reality checks guys.
Not new, it's always been like that. The town ones give better stuff though, so don't complain!

Buying the chest and trunks are useless, unless you want to waste diamonds. They do give a minimal payout ratio, they are like a claw machine or arcade machine, they are rigged not to give the good stuff.
And I have occasionally paid to open them and gotten ten diamonds back. But. And here's the good point. Usually after a break in your playing, like in the morning when you first start, the chest you encounter is more likely to open. Since I only go to my town twice or three times a day, the first thing I do is check the chest, then even if my personal train isn't ready yet, I tap it to go to Greg's and his always opens for me also. Your red toolbox will usually open first thing in the morning and your friends toolbox will usually open then also. It's like they have a timer on them but I don't think they do. Anyway.
