The new poison spell is making troops such as archers, witches and wizards useless in the cc. Now people have to resort to drags, balloons and valks and it's just a pain as these troops are generally not great for cc. I think there should be some change with the poison spell as it's making the strategy behind cc troop composition useless as wizards witches and archers dont work against poison.
Personally, I think it's good, that there are now other troops in the clan castle. :)
True... But wiz+archers+minions+witch are still usually helpful with th6 and below. Usually no th8 attacks to those people. But past late th7, you really can only use dragons and hounds.
I do agree that it does make it much easier, especially in wars. Wizards aren't a problem any more. However for lower levels they still have to deal with them.
Loons are an excellent CC troop - but I do agree to an extent. Wizards and Witches are now useless.
If you don't like it, you should quit. They've already nerfed offense so bad by adding new buildings, more hp to existing buildings, etc and not doing anything to help offensive attacks. After all the nerfs, the poison spell is absolutely necessary or you'd have th9s attacking th7 and 8s in wars to even be able to get stars.This game is already a shell of what it used to be because of people like you complaining about everything little thing. So PLEASE just quit.
By making some troops weaker they have made others relatively stronger and overall more balanced. Why is it wrong for a dragon or a hound to be more effective than 35 barbs or archers? Why is it wrong that more expensive troops have more worth?
Before everyone in wars basically had wizards, witches, or small troops. Now there are more dragons, hounds, valks, loons, as well as still mixing in wizards and small troops too. There is far more variation than before.
Agreed. The spell adds more variation. Now have to find balance of what want again eg. mixing high health, with fast moving or total health etc. A lot more comb's are available, than standard witch/wizard or wizards or the half year archer lure etc.Quote:

Over the last week I've tried this many times and in many cases all arch and goblins worked great and left attacker at 48%.
Yes the spell made the cc be more diverse. But also now attackers now have more things to expect rather than the old 1 light and kill the witch and cc is pretty much done. I can see this spell as a positive addition for both sides at the same time. The use of the spell & CC composition decides who is the winner side neither CC nor spell
Note: I'm talking at Champs 2 and attackers from Champs 1 so everything used by attacker is maxed.
Gobs work especially well (with witches) because contrast in attack speed could take time, but they also have high damage and high speed and so they run run run out of poison.
Poison Spells ruining CC strategy? Do you say defences ruin attacking?
I personally think the poison spell is a great addition to the game. Use dragons in CC as a counter.

There is 1 notable exception that I have found...when an all archer CC decides to split and go 3 different directions. This is completely unlucky, rare and can be a serious pain. But I have seen it :(
There have already been several very long threads on this exact subject.
That said, the poison spell is not ruining CC strategy, it's changing CC strategy. The only purpose for the poison spell, and the only possible use for the poison spell is to kill low DPS CC troops. That had to be the intent of SC when they releases it, so I don't see them changing it any time soon.
Low DPS troops are still somewhat effective. It still takes a long time to lure out and clump up 25-35 archers, and those archers can do a great deal of damage in the time it takes to kill them with the poison spell. Similar goes for wizards and witches. You also have the choice of mixing in higher HP troops, which might have lower DPS, but still take quite a bit of time to take out.
I suggest changing your strategy to deal with the poison spell and mix it up a bit.
i agree that the poison spell is ruining the game....i just got attacked by 27 giants and my defending troops were easily wipe out by a couple archers i had 1 valk 3 balloons and 2 archers and non stop them from gettin a 83% on me...im TH8 goin to Th9 now and i have MAX defense...i think the dark spells should b use only in war cuz wats the point in having defendin troops that get wipe out so easily? a dragon would b good yea but it still goes down easily wit just archers....giants are already pain when using heal spells and they get even harder when they use a healer once our air defense are gone since our air traps dont work on them no more:mad::mad::mad:
the problem is that witches were the only troop capable of defending gowipe, now theirs nothing you can do to defend against gowipe accompanied by poison and quake spells,
with maxed troops you can 2 star any base, its become less of a competition of skill and more a competition of who can stay online the most......
i doubt it will stay this way though, they will nerf it the same way they did with hogs and witches
I like the update. If you can't deal with stronger troops in cc, you shouldn't clash. It adds an element of making attacking harder--but it works both ways. It isn't unfair by any means.
Change your layout. I haven't been three starred since the update. Two? Yes, but I was two starred prior to the update. Use compartments to slow attacks.Quote:

are you new to the game? were you not around when hogs first came out and were so overpowered anyone could 3 star a maxed base with no skill? the same happened with witches and both got nerfed, the same will happen with these spellsQuote:

Except people were bringing lightning before anyway. And I had most success with defending after the update. And how I had a witch in my cc last defend against a poison spell, which didn't even get the witch, and the witch still didnt do anything. Two star raids on maxed bases happen so fast a witch doesn't even spawn 11 skels if left alone most of the time, so you're better off with an extra 12 barch instead.Quote:

IMHO, poison is a double edged sword. I've seen people waste a lot of time using it to kill loons or on a CC drag just b/c they brought it and felt they had to use it. Also, for first time war attacks or simply in MM, the question is, "To bring or not to bring?" This gets into some reverse psychology: if everyone is countering with high-hp CC troops, then an EQ or extra haste might serve you better. Then again, if everyone starts to see poison as a waste of a slot due to this kind of countering, one could load up with wiz/witch/arch and catch em off guard (albeit only once). I see poison like many others here do, an interesting new twist to the game, nothing more. Hope I brought some new considerations to the debate...
2 thoughts
first, this makes getting an average clans cc's filled much easier, because at worst 3 people can fill them all, because its not so dependent on small units, but usually a drag plus whatever. The CC hound has pretty much been solved now, so a drag is basically the only option. That assumes you have reason to believe you might face an air attack, of course.
second, there is absolutely no urgency to get dark spells. poison is so powerful that it makes itself pointless, because everybody is going to be running drags, so a poison does what? kills 5-10 archers or slightly maims and slows a dragon whose main function is to distract with its hitpoints anyway?
So, I don't know this, I have no data, but I'm just guessing, any clan that simply skips dark spells probably has a war advantage for now, assuming dark spells have a meaningful amount of weight in matching, because poison literally renders itself useless via being so overpowered, because it forces everybody to run a dragon/high hp troops...
In essence, poison is so op it makes the dark spells a non event.
If everybody starts using high HP units as CC troops, won't the poison spell become useless in the near future?

I still think people are over reacting to the new poison spell. I have seen people stop pulling the clan castle and as a result the troops split up which makes poison only able to kill some of the clan castle troops. I have also seen misplaced poison spells where they don't capture all of the troops. On the other extreme I have been seeing a lot of lavas hounds in clan castles and valkries in bases that will most likely be attacked by air. I think people are freaking out to much. Vary what you have in each of your clans castles and you will still see good results. Remember if all your castle troops are dieing to poison, all of there troops can die to poison as well. It will come down to who attacks the best in the end, as it always has.
