Does a centered barbarian king work like centered CC? And what's the difference between guard and sleep for bk?

OP... your picture scares me...
I find a centered king to be unnecessary. Until high levels, he preforms poorly on defense. He can damage a giant heavy army quite well, however. The general rule is high cups-centered farming-outside
When set to defend, heroes defend your village. When set to sleep, they don't.
If he is injured defending your village, yes.
So centering bk isn't that useful unless someone happens to attack with giants. So should I still set my bk to defend my village if I'm farming? I just got it so I don't know if its better to keep it ready to attack or if it helps for defending
I've found that if your opponent is unable to 'activate' your heroes pre-attack, it gives an edge towards the defending village. The last thing you want is for your units to all have to focus on a defending hero right as they're almost to the Town Hall while getting pounded on by all sorts of defensive structures.
May be different for farming mode...
I've had a centered bk for a while now and I don't see much of an advantage. He is just too weak to really do anything at lvl1.
However, being centered does slow him down a little as he has to jump over walls.
I just got attacked an hour ago, and I had my bk set to guard, but when I replayed it, my bk wasnt there defending, I'm sure he wasn't resting since I was sleeping and my last attack was hours ago. Unless I'm missing something, the button means the mode he's in right now? Or to switch to that?
I'm sure I played the earlier one. When the button says guard, does that mean the bk is already guarding, or you tap it to make it guard?
