Why does supercell care if you change your name?

More name changes, more data it has to hold. With millions of users, the added data would add up. It might not be a server issue, but it would make sense.

With the complaints about spying, clan stealing, clan kicking and clan stalking if names were not static the it would just make it easier for people to engage in those sorts of activities. With static names users can at least try to identify and exclude repeat trollers.

Also if you were to report players for violation of the ToS, how effective would that be if they could change their name whenever they wanted? I do know there is a # but how many users would remember to screenshot the # as well as the offensive behaviour?

A troll can easily come to a clan, kick out a bunch of people, get banned from joining that clan, change their name, and repeat. Also, you had to confirm 3 times to change it, so if you made a mistake.....................
