Why does supercell care if you change your name?

just wondering why does supercell care if you change your name more than once if they charged 5-10$ a name change (like xbox) they could have a lot of profit coming in i just dont see the big deal and why they restrict you to only one name change. thanks.

Because then we would see more:

All over the forums.

I don't know the exact reason, but making it less to appealing to sell accounts [which is against TOS] could be one of them.

I would probably say it's a mixture of what daz said with regards to selling accounts and probably to prevent people from changing their names to troll others.

With the complaints about spying, clan stealing, clan kicking and clan stalking if names were not static the it would just make it easier for people to engage in those sorts of activities. With static names users can at least try to identify and exclude repeat trollers.

Also if you were to report players for violation of the ToS, how effective would that be if they could change their name whenever they wanted? I do know there is a # but how many users would remember to screenshot the # as well as the offensive behaviour?

It's also a bit annoying when clan members change their name without telling everyone. Especially in a big clan, you didn't aren't sure who they are for a bit. With only one name change its not a big deal very often

Some games let you change your name for gems, I like how it's free in clash of clans, but yeah if people change their names unlimited this game would be trolls galore.

I would assume it is a server issue/not needed update.

Probably not a server issue, if they wanted to they could let you change name unlimited times but it's not necessary because it would just create even more issues with trolling and stuff.

I think this is obvious, becuase the villagers wouldn't know where they live!

On a serious note, I agree with what has already been said about selling accounts, clan spying, trolling etc.
