I'm almost a maxed TH8, once completely maxed I'll go to TH9. What do you guys recommend to work on first for a good war attack strategy? I know there is no perfect attack but which one should I focus on that gives me the best shot at 3 stars. I've been mass dragoon-ing through TH8 and am looking forward to something else, ready to add new attacks to my resume. Thanks guys.
- get level 5 hogs 1st
- Then level 6 loons, then lava hound.
- Every th8 and 99% of mid to low th9s fall to lvl 5 hogs.
Early th9 you should use the same strategy for a while until you upgrade your troops. L5 hogs are great, but mid th9s won't be able to be hog rushed. Personally, I maxxed hogs right away, but looking back I should have done golems. Gowipe is an almost promised two star, unless you mess it up on th9 bases. It won't be a garunteed three though. Gowiwi is another good option, but you will want max witches. Also, upgrade army camps ASAP. More troops you can hold, the stronger your army is.
I think gowipe is the way to go for new townhall 9's. The reason for this is that you will be attacking other new townhall 9's. Your heroes will be low as you will have a new queen and your king will be at lvl 10 tops. Gowipe will give your army a lot of hitpoints and give you a chance at beating your mirror with three stars. Eventually you will need to add an air attack with lava/loons. A lot of people on the forums suggest hogs but if you play a good war clan you won't be able to consistently three star their townhall 9's with hogs as they will have multiple double giant bombs with even more possible places they could be. I would still suggest getting them maxed for when you play bad clans and for pulling castles.

My first move was to upgrade Witches and start working on GoWiWi
It's a lot easier to upgrade witches (only 1 lvl to upgrade) than pekka... and gowiwi is far more reliable if trying to get 3* from a TH9. Indeed, gowipe is an almost guaranteed 2*, but is your clan really aiming at 2* on TH9 ? Mine is not, 3* is the only option on a TH9, even maxed...Quote:

The variants are CB (1 golem) or shattered (2 golems). You will take a golem only when the AQ is fairly exposed, if the queen is centralized your best call is use two golems to reach hear and kill her with your king.
On a th9 attack you need to take of the queen and CC always. Also, if you are doing a hog attack you need to get rid to dgb spots, this is also achieved but the kill squad or maybe a few hogs you sacrifice for the matter.
There are many guides at OneHive's YouTube channel, you should give it a look. Or you can always go to a clan (like mine) where we teach this kind of attacks to people that already mastered hogs and dragloon at th8 and want to learn.
goho is easily your fastest ways three stars, just max your hogs. Upgrade your CC as one of your early upgrades to hold a max golem. Combined with max hogs is a three star on even late stage TH9s.
I have been very successful with the dragloon attack. So far with lvl4 hogs not so much, definitely needs works!
