Walls always help, but they are somewhat a 'surplus' item in the game.
I assume your defenses are maxed, but is your Barb King & Lab maxed also?
If they are also maxed, I would upgrade. If not, I would stay down and work on them while doing walls at the same time.

I'm a th8 without level 8 walls so I can't answer your question but I made a thread like this a while back that you can use the search option to find if you want more feedback. I'm pretty sure the majority of the responses were max out walls at TH8.Quote:

Depends actually. If you're doing the Town Hall 8.5 strategy you can focus on using your gold towards walls constantly but if your plan is to go to th9 and get xbows and everything than I would upgrade and max out everything during th8

Do u have all your research done? If not then do not go to th9 or you will regret it. This is just how th8 is.
Personally I say max it all. I knew the disparity between lab and build time in th8 so I used that last remaining idle builder time to do all my walls while lab finished up. This is how I chose to play. The idle villager time didn't bother me because I wanted to max. I went to th9 just as my lab finished.
Rushing to th9 is not a good idea if it means your offense is behind. That's what hurts most players I see.
Finally... do what u want. It's ur game.
Yes, the player decides what they want to do, however I personally will not be maxing lab completely because I refuse to sit on idle builders and full resources for months, the lab upgrades take ridiculous amount of time, I'm maxing all buildings and walls but I don't care about lab.Quote:
