Just started this push myself. Started at G2 yesterday now I'm sitting in C2. Used barch the whole way, sniping and 50% rushed bases or poor designs. I've added 8 giants and 6 wbs to the mix to speed things up and gain access to the core. King has been sleeping this entire time, but the queen was key to getting that last little bit on a few attacks. See you in Champs!

I'm making my first run into Champions, I'm not approaching it aggressively. Maxed def TH9 (minus sweeper) with 20 lava walls.
So far, I've been able to get into Master 2 pretty easily through defenses. I put my DE storage and drills in a corner and 2 our 3 times I get people going after the DE then failing to 50%. I skipped Master 3 altogether this way, winning over 200 trophies overnight.
Now it feels like a long grind through to Master 1. So far, I have yet to see a TH to snipe (I'll take a free snipe, means I can attack again immediately) and have seen a handful of TH8 but all are offering no more than 11 cups for a 3 star.
I try to hit just TH9s preferable with Xbows down.
Army Composition
I'm using 24 Loons, 2 Hounds and 20 minions - two rage and two heals. I can get 1 star easily with just about any TH9 and can usually get 2 star on TH9 with Xbows down or 3 stars if it's a low TH9.
I avoid TH10 like the plague, don't even want to risk it.
It's slow but my only saving grace is that when I do get attacked and lose, its usually to someone fairly higher up and I've only been losing 1-5 stars each. Not sure if I'll make it through round but we'll see!

I got there a couple of weeks ago with no trouble as a max D TH9. 20 AQ, 17 BK. My base was decent . . all legos, 95 lavas.

I kept my TH outside and got mostly snipes on me. I traded attacks 1:1, never had to boost or play in a session. I went for 2 stars (or 3, of course) on any base that would net me more trophies than I lost on my last defense. I never had any issue keeping my resources . . . in fact, I filled my storages all the way up and maintained it during the grind (I was upgrading to TH10 at the time).
You just have to be confident that you can at least 1 star the base you are hitting. 1 loss is a big setback when pushing, especially when not playing in sessions. Also, when trading attacks 1:1, you can honestly use any heavy hitting army that you are confident with. I used GoWiVaPe and GoWiWi for several attacks when warming up for my war attacks too, but mostly just lavaloonion.
