For a very long time I liked to keep at least 20 of each dairy product and at least 40 of each sugar in my barn, but now I'm starting to think that's a bit excessive considering how often my barn gets full. So I'm just wondering what a amount of sugar/dairy products do you think is reasonable to keep in your barn?
What is working for me right now at level 48 is keeping 20 of the items that take a long time to make...cheeses and syrup, and 10 of the rest. When my cheeses/syrup drops to 10, I make more.
What works for one person isn't going to work for another as it is very level dependent (barn size a big factor too). I've just turned level 72 and what has worked for me up until now is: 30-40 each of cream, butter and cheese. Around 20 of goat cheese (it's got down to 9 and I'm feeling a touch panicky 😳!). 30-40 of white sugar, 25-30 of brown sugar and around 15 of syrup.
However, with the truck event I am going to need more sugar and dairy to restock cakes etc, plus ive just unlocked the pasta kitchen which apparently goes through cheese like mad so I may well have to have a rethink.
I never keep more than 20. If it exceeds 20 they become coffee. I would rather keep them compact and store them as premium items. I never do dairy or sugar orders either. It works for me. But for some ppl its the opposite.
I make sugar and dairy items 24/7. I use it without worrying about stock, but only to make items i need for town/boat/truck. Candy is the only thing i make 24/ as it takes so long

Why stockpile sugar and dairy products instead of making stuff with them?
Just in case you urgently need them for a truck order (like this event), or if a person don't want to miss any boat if they won't be using diamonds so the boat can always be done fast, and basically for any other need. For me I have to have at least 80 of each for different reasons and more than 20 of the products that use them, but because of the event, the products are almost gone.Quote:

Wow, I'm amazed at the amounts of sugar being stockpiled. I don't. I have fully expanded my sugar mill and it's busy all day but I use it as it's made. At any given time I probably have about three to twenty of each and sometimes I run out completely. When that happens I just make stuff that doesn't call for sugar till the queue's done. But I also usually cast off boats calling for sugar and I rarely do truck orders. I've been known to fill townie orders asking for sugar, but sometimes I send them packing. And sometimes they wait days until I feel like filling the order. It works well for me.
Twenty yes except I have to keep replenishing all the time , dairy now what I can meaning two of each if lucky
My dairy and sugar mill are runing all the time as well. And still I'm always low on their products, I usually have never more than 5 of each. Sadly.
30 of each. used to have more until the pasta kitchen came along :-/ but right now i have 40 cream so im very, very surprised lol
I implement the opposite. I keep my stock of secondary products which need dairies and sugar at least 20 each, so they vary from time to time.
I try to keep 15-20 of all sugar and dairy products. Seems like I'm always making cream and butter! :p
I don't have that much barn space so in my case:
B.Sugar, W.Sugar 5x
Syrup 5x~7x
Cream, Butter 5x
Cheese 5x~7x
Goat Cheese 4x
Before I got the 3rd star on both dairy and sugar mill I used to have 10x syrup & Cheese, which often clogged my barn. I'm thinking of expanding the stock back again when I earn more space in my barn, tho :p
Oh, and I try to keep my cows/goats at ready.
I keep around up to 25 of each type
I try and not obsess over numbers, but have enough on hand to play the game. For me, this means I make cheeses at night and creams or butter during the day.
For or me trying to stockpile dairy or sugar is like trying to nail jello to a tree. I constantly produce, and constantly play... So I constantly am using.
my barn is at 2050 I think...
Here is my hoarding rules lol....
building supplies - never go over 10 of the one I have lowest of. (Ie.. For silo - if I have 8 screws, then I won't store past 18 wood panel or nails.
town - don't start saving any supplies until 2 weeks after a new level. Then save 2/3 of what I need for grey stone, hammer and tar. After I reach 2/3 then start saving everything until I am at full need for next level upgrade.
expansion - sell it all
mining - sell if have more then 20 of any kind
milk/bacon - sell if have more then 40
goat milk/wool/eggs/ sell if have more then 20
any food or items after that - minimum save 10-11 sell at 12 but never below 10.
metal bars - sell after 25
jewelry, ore, dairy and sugar - never sell. Never ever lol.
of I get boats asking for lobster, cheese, feathers, cream or sugar I cast it off and ignore it.

I'm afraid the fifo-method is used in my barn for sugar and dairy.. I don't try and keep a stock at all. I use them to make the end products. I do like it if I have a few in barn but I have no minimum limits. If I have one white sugar left, I'll use it still to make whatever the townie, boat etc is asking. It does change around a lot. Sometimes the sugar piles up and sometimes you use them as they are ready. My stock goes from one to maybe 30 on sugar. I normally have very few cheese or goat cheese. 20-30 cream and maybe 20 butter at most. And sometimes I have none of any of them. I like making the stuff but keeping track of how many of each I have isn't my favourite thing to do.
I have to add that the only item I DO want to keep a stock of is popcorn. I have no idea why that is except that they are so pretty! Just recently I got so many orders for them that I had none. Pretty shocking.. (I normally have around 100). I had to go buy them from the dd. I have no idea where my fetish for popcorn comes from.. :o
I just keep whatever I have usually unless it's a lot, then I sell it to RSS for the money. I really need to trade some expansion items so I can expand my barn and silo. Level 45 and only 550 spaces in each.

I aim for 40 in total, about 8-13 of each. On dairy I might keep a lot of bulk goat milk since it is hard to buy.
