I'm willing to guess that there are more people that play in the northern hemisphere than the southern. Just a guess but I haven't pulled out my almanac recently

Northern Hemisphere has all the major countries where CoC is played.

USA, UK, Middle Eastern Countries, India, China, Philippines, Japan, etc.

But I agree with you on the fact that loot has nothing to do with holidays.

Clash forecaster is a simulation and as such requires certain accurate data to be entered in or the results would be absolutely useless! One of the most important bits of data is the total number of players and their breakdown by region. If you read how the simulation was put together the programmer took care to try and ensure that these figures were as accurate as possible! and they are certainly not random!

Even weather forecasts are more accurate then the Clash of Clans forecaster. That site is worthless.
