Clan v Clan tournament system. Improve competition in a controlled environment.
So here is the idea. Each day a CLAN LEADER can put their team into a tournament that lasts on a timescale of a week lets say. The format will be in the form of a knockout tree and if it lasts a week then there should be 128 clans registered to each tournament. Clans can only register to one tournament and when the first tournament is full it will then start and another will open for new people to register into. Alternatively, trophy count amongst the clan could determine the tier that they play in to make it a little more fair.
Format
Every clan gets drawn randomly and they then have one day to gain as many trophies from the opposition clan possible with a view to progress to the next round. Winner progresses into the last 64 and loser can reapply for the next tournament.
A couple of ways this can work in terms of determining the winner;
Both clans start with 500 trophies each (1000 total) and it will be formatted in a 50/50 bar form with the leading team taking more of the share of the bar.

The other way would be with the clan winning the most trophies from the other clan wins.
Match search rules
To prevent wrongdoing of any kind. When a clanner goes to search for a tournament game, they cannot choose where they fight. They must fight the clan that has been randomly selected or face a 10 trophy fine. (Or something penalizing)
Winning!
The winner of the whole tournament could be accredited with a star or something next to their name and in time the REAL top clans would then be able to display their pedigree.
This could then open doors to specific tournaments where you need a number of stars to compete or even a champions league for the top clans.
Improving the competitive community
I believe this could bring clans closer together and make people work as teams more. People will probably start remaking strategy guides and make the game more enjoyable. It could make the community multiply as many other games have done in the past with interleague (interclan) competition.

Clan v clan, tournament idea
Here's another clan war idea that could replace the clan tournament. Rather than rewarding the same clans over and over and tournament after tournament simply because they have the most trophies, how about rewarding the clans that are active and more deserving?
First designate a week time for tournament. During the week, a clan leader (or also elders) can declare war on another clan with similar trophies/ranking. Each war last one hour. During war, members of each clan can specifically battle members of the other clan who are randomly selected. If they first randomly selected opponent is someone you don't want to battle, you can choose another opponent but the possible trophy won will be reduced. Shield is available for those inactive or those not able to participate. However, this would also decrease than clan's opportunity for more trophies.
At the end of the war, all trophies won are added to the tournament count. Of course, those with gems can speed up troops recruitment in order to participate in another battle during a war.
At the end of the tournament, the top three clans who gained the most trophies shall reap the reward (gems, gold, supercell decides). As the tournament is a week long and each war is an hour long, the clans with the more active members have better chance of winning.
This makes things more competitive as the top three spots are more attainable by more clans. People may have more reasons to buy and use gems. Clan activities and member participation are more crucial.
