Taking over the village...
I thought it might be a great addition to the game if there was a possibility to take over some defensive buildings in an attack, instead of destroying them. Hear me out.
First of all, it should only concern manned buildings: the Archer Tower and the Wizard Tower.
Secondly, there are some conditions to a takeover of those buildings:
- It has to be emptied: all health points have to be taken. Visually the defenders troops are removed, but the building does not collapse.
- The attacker has to bring the right troops to re-use the building: 3 archers per Archer Tower, 1 Wizard per Wizard Tower.
- The attackers troops have to reach the emptied building alive: if any other defense kills the troops on their way to it, there will be no overtake.
- The attackers troops have to reach the emptied building in time: if the troops don't reach the empty building in time, the building collapses. It could be something in the range of 8-12 sec. A small timer on top of the emptied building could indicate that.
When a building is emptied and the matching troops are on the battleground, they ignore all other defenses and rush to the vacant building. If the required troops are attacking another building/troop when a Tower is emptied, they will instantly stop their current attack, and rush to the vacant building. I'm just not sure if they should be able to jumps walls at that moment or not. Probably not.
If all conditions are met, the attacker takes over the Archer and/or Wizard Towers. The troops start attacking any remaining defenders troops (from the Clan Castle) and buildings within the initial range of the taken building. Towers which are being upgraded at the time of the attack, cannot be taken. They are just destroyed.
The remaining defensive buildings now also attack the taken Tower(s).
Since the building was taken, and already suffered some damage, it is easier to destroy (by the defender). I would suggest a hitpoint-value of 50% of the initial value. The DPS of an overtaken Tower is reduced by 25%.Example: an Archer Tower level 8 has 690 HP and 48 DPS --> An overtaken Archer Tower would have 345 HP and 36 DPS.
Just like Archers and Wizards don't have, the overtaken Tower(s) don't have preferred targets. They will however target remaining Clan Castle troops first.
To visually make it clear which Towers have been taken, there could be an added colored glow around the base. I'm thinking something green-ish, similar to the 'swirl' on boosted collectors/mines.
