Adding the emoticons to your GC nickname will make it difficult for others to friend you, as they may not have the ap, but I always like to ask people to pm me first if they want to friend me, and then I can add them. ( or temporally remove the emoticons)

Apple iOS has a built in Emoji Emoticons available as well, all you need to do is go to settings > General > Keyboard. Add keyboard language then you will find Emoji.

Of course sometimes you may need to use a third party app to find the one you need but i think they are all the same. And I do agree that adding emoticons on your GC nickname can make it difficult for them to add you.

It is possible that that user have a jailbroken device, then you have acces to more keyboards. And the keyboard that is used, isnt colorfull like our smileys, but a black and white version wich the game aproves, just like *** and }\\~<# .... ;
So, for us it isn't possible to do that :( unless you jaibreak your device

Here is how to get Emoji onto your device. No jailbreak is needed at all. BTW sorry if the pic is small. click on them to enlarge.

All you need to do is go to settings > General > Keyboard > Keyboard. It should then take you to the picture below and if you don't have emoji, simply tap Add New Keyboard

Then Open game center and tap on your account on the banner on the bottom, view account and on your nickname:

When the keyboard pops up, tap on the globe key until you get to the emoji, or you can simply hold the globe key until a list pops up and you can then slide your finger to select Emoji.

There you go you can now add emoji emoticons in your nickname.

But be warned that when you do add emoticons to your nickname, it may be difficult for some to add you to the game center friends and therefore you may need to add them. This is one thing I wouldn't do, even though it is cool to add emoticons to your nickname.

As much as I love emoji's- I sure wouldnt jailbreak my device just to get more! The black and white ones sound cool though.

I thought it's not in our nickname, but instead in the name we set for GC to appear. For example, I set my name as Diana Santoso. I think she added the emoji in that name, but today I finally able to view my GC but I can't set my own name there. Do u know where we set the name displayed in GC requests and so on? And is it ok to change GC e-mail? I'm afraid I'll lost my farm but I actually wanna change it...

The name on the roadside shop displays your Game Center ID, which is your nickname that you create. All your game center friends will see your roadside shop as your game center nickname. If you want the emoji to show around your name then you'd have to put your name on the nickname.

Now this may be confusing but when you are using Facebook, then it will display your first name on the roadside shop and all your facebook friends that plays and visit your farm, your first name will be displayed instead of the GC. Also when you have facebook logged in, you will see that your roadside shop is displayed with your first name.

Ah I see. So that's why my roadside shop was named with my first name.
But why does when I send requests, it specifically says: 'Diana wants to be your friend?'. I remember setting it up in GC. There's a column for first and last name. And I remember changing it again, since I thought my RL friends will be confused if they accept request from miss.p1nky instead of Diana.
Also, there was a thread some months ago about a female finding out she can put a blank in the last name column and it will automatically changed to: Appleseed and shown in GC.
After that, she decided to put it blank and ask around whether her real last name already disappeared. She was an active poster in the forum at that time.
I think you may have visited that thread too, since I know you've been here for quite some time already.

I believe that's how it works, when someone adds you, on the notification it will say that person's name wants to be your friends. Even if you go to the "Friends" Tab. The list will show first and last name. However if you tap on an individual, then then it will show the _____ is ______.

But they have to type in your GC ID (your nickname) or e-mail address that's tied to that GC to add you. I hope this makes sense to you.

I believe your full name appears when sending friend request because your GC is connected to the apple ID which have your full details (full name/billing address). Previously, I used my bf's credit card on my apple ID and his full name appeared on the friend request. When I changed to my credit card details, the name changed to mine.
