Alright so I dropped down to below 200 trophies to farm, but all I see is 80 gold and sometimes 80 elixir. Why do people say below 200 trophy farming is good? I don't even win back the 580 gold that I paid to find the match. Am I doing something wrong? Please help.

If you aren't getting the gold, go deeper to like sub 50 ish. You should be able to make 1.5 mill an hour under ideal circumstances. I'm a TH7 and I get fantastic gold down there.
Are you being serious? How do you do that? Is it from TH that people quit?
Don't raid like a king. Raid like a thief. Use a lot of archers and goblins. You won't be as successful looking for 150k/150k battles. Its all about high volume down there. Example: Use around 20 goblins and get 55k/70k. Using minimal troops you can raid non-stop and the loot adds up fast. Set aside some time, bring a snack, and never log off. Otherwise you will find yourself in the 300 trophy range within mere moments.
Once you get 300k gold using only 2 goblins ... you will be hooked my friend.
